The Middle Class Is No Longer America's Economic Majority

  1. you're probably right, now you are elevating the conversation, my post was just to reply to a low life democrat that thought if he attacked Bush all republicans would rise up to defend him, not knowing that most conservatives despise Bush more than either of the Clintons. Unlike the democrats who will support anybody that is a democrat that can win regardless of how many times they have been betrayed by their own party.

But getting back to Reagan, he made us "feel good" about being Americans again (unlike we felt under Jimmy Carter) but if he was a trader, he picked really piss poor dictators to go long on.

otherwise, big difference between republicans and conservatives
and for that matter, liberals and democrats

some are liberals and believe in a very liberal use of government power
others are conservative and feel like giving the government any more power is like opening a Pandora's Box

either way, it has very little to do with political parties

vote republican or democrat, don't matter to me, either way you are going to end up exactly the same

That's why I say let the women control the government nanny state, that's all they are good for, and let the men control war and defense, since that's all they really understand

and get the government out of the economics business, since it is a very dismal science

LOL, I don't actually disagree with you (apart from the "that's all we're good for" bit, natch).

  3. well, then look at it this way, we tamed the government down to the point where it is safe for you to run it, now it's time for us to move on to someting more dangerous

  5. this can all be settled with simple math. The 10% in the lowest income bracket are poor. The 10% in the highest income bracket (or net worth) are rich. And everybody else is "middle class."

If you choose to define it that way, then by definition the proportions can never change. This isn't everyone's definition, though.

  7. like the man said, "The poor you will always have with you."

if we're going to define it like I define it then it's easy, anybody with more money than me is rich.

I'm more than willing to help the poor, but not if they keep growing. As long a they stay down there at 10% then you can take 10% of my pay to help them.

If spreading the wealth around is socialist then then the emerging world should thank US capitalists for properly allocating investments for the last 35 years. Ironic.

Middle class would be much smaller if America hadn't been running a massive budget deficit for the past 20 years...

Do you just randomly say stuff without looking at any numbers?
Has Obama been the president since 1971?

By far the biggest decline in middle class has been with Reagan, a Republican (always a good choice to elect an actor as a president, lol).
During Obama's reign, highest income bracket has also gained a percentage point but I suspect since that doesn't fit the Rep. agenda, it doesn't work so well. Facts are a bitch.
