The market is whispering something...

  1. I said nothing about our ability to fight in sandstorms. Spring is the sandstorm season in the middle east, and is no obstacle to the U.S. military.

The main issue here is not sand, but temperature.
The war must begin in the 5 month window between November and March. Otherwise it is simply too hot to wear all the necessary chemical warfare protective gear.

The average high in Baghdad is already 96 degrees in May, climbing up to 110 degrees in July. The weather then stays hellish all the way until November when it finally cools down to 74 degrees. Note that Baghdad weather is nice and cool compared to the southern deserts the troops must cross to get there. Kuwait city averages 100 in May, 112 in July.

November will be the first possible optimal opportunity for this war to begin.

  3. 1st, moron lube job, dont take my name thing personally. It was a lovely story you told about the background of your "handle". I am an ignorant person, and I didnt know that, but thanks for enlightening me.

2nd, the gentleman is right, the odds heavily favor a war, 3 to 1 sounds right, and it will happen within a month. Rather than taking the phantom $10,000 from you, I will accept your contrition once it happens.

It will happen like this. As another intelligent person on this board said, its personnal, and thats true. Bush jr aint backing down. We will sweep into baghdad, and eliminate hussein. Its payback time. It wont take long. But it will be a war. War as defined by us going in there and annihilating a leader.

As I understand trading well, I also understand odds. I cant take advantage of you. the odds are heavily in my favor. That's why I assumed you would not pay. And besides, we'd never agree on a escrow person. It wont be neiderhoffer either, and his pledge pin.

  4. I just found the perfect solution to our problem!

From Business 2.0 Mag (Please don't tell me you've never heard of Business 2.0):

British still don't have quite enough chances to take one another's money. So they've created a wagering website, Flutter.com, and attracted $43.2 million in investments from the likes of Bernard Arnault's fund, Europ@web; Chase Capital; and Benchmark Capital, which made Flutter its first European investment.

Flutter, Brit-speak for bet, launched in May. The founders say they hope to provide an online community not unlike that of eBay. "You won't be betting against a bookmaker," their site boasts in a delightfully worded bit of explanation, "but against a real human being (organic)."

In addition to the usual betting fare -- sporting events and the like -- Flutter was accepting wagers in mid-June on whether Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant would announce their engagement (a bad bet), whether Madonna was pregnant with a boy or a girl, and whether she would name the child Jesus.

Once you post your bet, you wait to see if another of the 20,000 Flutter.com members takes you up on it. If someone does, both of you send half the wager amount to the site, which holds the money in escrow. Once the wager is settled, Flutter sends the money to the winning party -- less a 5 percent commission, of course.

You needn't worry about taking my money, I have a couple mil more where that came from.

Edit: This looks like a great site, but they do not do custom bets, and are not laying odds on war. Not that you would have come up with 10K anyways.

  5. klutz

Reading your posts is an education..................I am continually amazed

The best bit was ....."I cannot be that wrong if the leader of the US feels the same way". This whole problem with Iraq is the result of Bush's muddled "thinking" and his desperation to secure a second term. The man is an idiot and when an idiot is in charge then you just know that at some point he's going to screw it up for everybody.

  7. as much as I trust alfatrading, or spankbook, or your hoffenneidlander.

You're a joke! "I got a couple mil more" sure you do. monopoly $, right?

If you had that $, you wouldnt talk about it. The only escrow I want is Shortboy. He's the only trustworthy person. Period.

you are quite the buffoon! either shortboy or shut up!

    vinny

ps when you said "now you did it" it reminded me of the nutty professor, when that comic reggie was disturbed by eddie murphy making jokes about him. we all know what happened to reggie after he proclaimed "now you did it!".

If you dont know, he was IN the piano within a minute.
