  1. LOL. Looks like this thread is pretty much dead. The OP is gone and the ET mongers have taken over. There's no place like ET for a good laugh! Thanks JJ!

  2. No one has gone anywhere, just busy watching Mr Bean again !

He had a nice little fall today, but did not hurt himself too much !

I feel a bit sorry, as I was partially responsible for his little accident.

Tomorrow I will post the first chart that The Generals use when making a decision as to where to put Mr & Mrs Gullibles' money.

I will do it from a free website, so that anyone can do the same with any other stock they want to compare.

This should stir a bit of interest and discussion ?

  3. If I may, why a free site? Not your own charting software?

  6. I have used several charting programmes and data providers, but for the purpose of this discussion I think it is best to use a common approach for those members with limited access to market data / charting software.

I might make readers aware of some very good free charting programmes and free data feeds, but not until I get the OK from elitetrader, as, after all, we need to respect this free tool that is being provided for our use.

It is important to note at this time, that the charting information that I will be providing, will not infringe on any copyright of others, as this is illegal and I have no interest in anything that is illegal, as it is not the correct thing to do.

It will be what The Generals use, modified slightly with some of my own simple adjustments, so in that effect, I am not taking away from anyone only myself.

Also, I am not saying that what I will post should be used by anyone in making a trading decision, as well all know the dangers of that, and from this point on, any information that I post, like all of my posted information to date, is for educational purposes only, and anyone who uses my posted information to make a trading decision, does so entirely at their own risk.

Neither elitetrader, nor I, are responsible for what trading decisions any trader make, and all information provided, as just noted, is purely for educational purposes only.

  8. Hi Baron,

As per my recent reply, I will not be posting any information that might infringe on copyright, as I respect other peoples right to make money from their many years of hard work.

I think I am observing the required rules, but please do let me know if I am out of line anywhere and I will rectify same.

    Cheers,

  9. Before we look at any charts that The Generals use, we must first look at how they came to look at the particular stock.

Remember, The Generals have Mil$$$ of research at their disposal, so we must not think that we can be one step ahead of them, as the time and resources that go into formulating trading decisions for The Generals is beyond our comprehension as general public traders.

One of the most important things to note about The Generals, is that they are cool dudes, and cool dudes tend to go with whatever is in fashion, so, like many of those wealthy celebs, who buy the latest fashion in Gucci, Rolex, etc, etc, The Generals also like to buy the latest fashion in the financial celeb markets.

So, as Gucci and Rolex make their products known by advertising, the public traded companies must also make their "in fashion" product - their share price - known to The Generals through the many professional research companies - or advertisers - that charge a big hefty commission for using some of Mr & Mrs Gullibles' hard earned money.

Enter the Top Down and Bottom Up design !

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top-down_and_bottom-up_design

"In a top-down approach an overview of the system is first formulated, specifying but not detailing any first-level subsystems. Each subsystem is then refined in yet greater detail, sometimes in many additional subsystem levels, until the entire specification is reduced to base elements. A top-down model is often specified with the assistance of "black boxes" that make it easier to manipulate."

And, this is a very important bit !!

"However, black boxes may fail to elucidate elementary mechanisms or be detailed enough to realistically validate the model."

Hence, when the markets take a dive The Generals are left sitting with huge losses now showing in Mr & Mrs Gullibles' account.

I just hope that Mr & Mrs Gullibles' pension is not due to be paid out when the market has taken one of its many dives, and try telling them that it will eventually come back to where it was, while at the same time observing the look on their faces !

Not a nice position to be in, for someone who has worked long and hard all of their life !

But, no matter what happens to Mr & Mrs Gullible, The Generals, the advertisers and the penny pinchers, will all get to keep the money that was sucked out of Mr & Mrs Gullibles' account, but they will get it back, some time, somehow, in some sort of fashion, some way !!

  10. I am attending another class today, but I will stop in later to read the blackboard.
Besides, I can't see over row 3 and the glare from all the eyeglasses in row 1 is just awful.
