Israel is a convenient hot button issue used by those in power and those who want to be in power to distract the Arab populations from their miserable existence and the corruption of their governments. If the Arab governments actually cared about the Palestinians, don't you think they would have extended some compassion to them and let them establish a new country somewhere else, like maybe in the vast emptiness of Saudi Arabia?

The violence in Iraq is about the US having destabilized a government that held the three factions in Iraq in check, the Sunnis, the Shias, and the Kurds. Now it appears that the resolution to Iraq may be a return to a totalitarian leader like Saddam, or 3 separate states. Will Iran be governed by rational people? That is really up to the Iranian people. Will al qaeda stop its campaign against the saudi government? Maybe, maybe not. A removal of the US presence and the absence of Israel may bring peace to the region. The current situation certainly has brought nothing but war and killing.
