Hey, Dr know it all, is what Gore said true? In 2008. Gore said âthe entire North Polarized cap will disappear in 5 years.â
Read more carefully what I wrote about isotopic studies of atmospheric carbon. These show conclusively that the increase in atmospheric carbon since the start of the industrial age is overwhelmingly due to humans burning fossil fuels. Here's how we know this. Carbon occurs in three isotopes C12, C13 and the much rarer C14. Plants have a preference for the lighter isotope C12, so that plant material has a lower proportion of C13 than in other carbon. Fossil fuels being derived from plants also have a lower C13/C12 ratio, and so does the CO2 emitted when fossil fuels are burned. By observation of the C13/C12 ratio in the atmosphere, it is determined that the increase in atmospheric CO2 is mostly due to burning fossil fuels. You can come to the same conclusion by careful accounting of the consumption of fossil fuels worldwide together with other human sources of CO2 such as cement production. http://www.realclimate.org/index.ph...ncreases-are-due-to-human-activities-updated/ And here is a chart of atmospheric CO2 over the last 10,000 years. Something has obviously changed and that something is human activity.
Because warming seems to cause the oceans to release more CO2. Because the ice core data shows warming precedes CO2 accumulation by 800 years... And besides, why would I have any burdens, you are the one acting like man is causing warming... Well what is your evidence?
"Seems to'? WTF does that mean? You've been presented with evidence time and again, in this thread and others. You willfully ignore it, so what's the point? Good-bye.
Do you know the difference between a hypothesis and a fact? Really? You want me to act like I have conclusive understandings of this subject. Do you think I know for sure ocean warming causes the ocean to off gas CO2. All I can say is that is what I read and it seems to make sense. Do you have a link to that evidence about C02 causing warming?
You can verfiy CO2 warming yourself after a trip to the hardware store. Grab an aquarium, a shop light, a thermometer, a canister of CO2, etc. Google the set up. As for rising CO2, also observed, not hypothetical. The proportion of CO2 that Man is adding to the total is discernable by measuring the isotopes of carbon, as previously indicated. You are right, rising temperatures can indeed push more CO2 into the atmosphere, and that is even more reason to slow this process immediately. Probably a runaway greenhouse effect like that on Venus is not possible here, but I don't think we should toy with this anymore and find out the new equilibrium is too much higher than we want.
http://scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2010/03/the_empirical_evidence_for_man.php A question for you: why are people like you utterly incapable of doing simple google searches and finding this stuff yourself? It's not at all hard to find, but somehow the task is outside your skillset. Amazing.
I do not doubt CO2. I was just not sure that ocean warming causes the oceans to release C02. So I used the word "seems". There are scientists disputing the validity of the isotopes of carbon measurements. For multiple reasons... but it is possible sting was right when he said we should not be cutting down the rain forests That does not seem like a good idea to me. By the way some of the scientists argue that as a result of cutting down rain forests and vegetation you will alter the isotopes. finally if you look at the data you see C02 accumulate during previous warmings periods and the C02 starts to accumulate after the warming begins. so I am still waiting for someone to explain how they know that the warming is not causing the accumulation. if the isotopes of Co2would be accumulating anyway... how do you know man is causing the warming?
