Israel swears in new coalition, ending Netanyahu's long rule

JERUSALEM — Israel’s parliament on Sunday narrowly approved a new coalition government, ending the historic 12-year rule of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and sending the polarizing leader into the opposition.

So you are cheering that Israel has selected right-wing Yamina leader Bennett, a politician who is even more right-wing than Netanyahu, as their PM.

Naftali Bennett, a man who believes the solution to the Palestinian problem is to remove the Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza unilaterally.

    This should end well.

Bennett is not a panacea and certainly doesn’t fall far from the same tree as Netanyahu but Netanyahu is out and that is what is important for Israel.

We will see how Bennett does especially with Netanyahu not out of the picture completely but breaking up that hard right wing in Israel had to be done. The country was much too divided and entrenched under Netanyahu. He had to go.

  7. You have gotten what has been your boner-centric desire for years which is to see Bibi gone.

Be careful of what you wished for. Yeh, it is important for Israel as you say. Depending on which of the six descriptions of what Israel is and what its boundaries should be.

In any case, the Palestinians have achieved a massive victory from the last skirmish even though Israel had the upper hand militarily. The palestians and Hamas were successful in probing what the Biden and American position is on Israel now and it is clearly pro-palestinian- although Joe got backed into ultimately saying some things about Israel that were positive, but it was just an obligatory mouthing of the words that came after an obvious rift was growing.

Yup. The American regime is pro-palestinian and is about to help Iran get back up and running so that it can keep the flow of dollars to Hamas and the other groups flowing.

Meanwhile, American dems- especially in Congress- bash jewish people on a daily basis.

Had to break up the hard right wing. You don’t understand the internal conflict between the ultra religious and everyday Israelis. Netanyahu was nothing but trouble. Too much conflict to the point reformed Jews began leaving Israel in large numbers. These are the people that make up the backbone of Israel. If Israel was guided simply by the ultra religious it would become a nation incapable of defending itself. Netanyahu had to go for good of the nation.

  9. Okay, we will check back at future points to watch peace breaking out now that Bibi is gone and the Americans are backing the palestinians.

Getting rid of a hardliner and replacing him with an more hardliner in order to reduce the hardline influence in Israel. Not a trick that the viewers should try at home.
