This is bullshit, and usually what people believe when they have no idea what Libertarian-ism actually looks like, or what it stands for.
Libertarians are just pot smoking republicans. Not a dimes worth of difference once they get in office.
Aaaannd exhibit A in the "you don't know shit about Libertarians" accusation. I am a libertarian and have never smoked pot in my entire life. I am also pro-choice, pro gay marriage and hold a good deal of socially liberal positions. But you think you know libertarians.
No. Since you didn't clarify you meant only libertarians that were elected, I had no idea. Can you tell me which libertarians that were elected you are referring to that abandoned libertarian principles and turned into pot smoking republicans as you claimed?
Libertarians don’t need to abandon their principles, they are republicans by way of votes cast. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/rand_paul/412492
That's interesting. I don't recall Rand Paul ever announcing he was a candidate of the Libertarian party. Do you have a link where I could read about this declaration? Huh. Just found this: Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky – is sometimes regarded as libertarian-leaning, although David Boaz of the Cato Institute notes that "Paul doesn't claim to be a libertarian, and he takes positions that many libertarians disagree with." Isn't that interesting.
Well it’s Paul and Amash with libertarian leanings in Congress. They use the Republican moniker because libertarians are republicans.
So they lean Libertarian. That doesn't mean they are libertarians. They are republicans. Let's sum up our conversation thus far, shall we? 1. Here4money makes the claim "Liberterianism is like communism or lesbianism, a faze you outgrow once out of college." 2. I call bullshit, and state that this is only because most people don't understand what libertarians support. 3. You then make the ludicrous and unsupported claim "Libertarians are just pot smoking republicans. Not a dimes worth of difference once they get in office." 4. I state that I am a libertarian and do not smoke pot, and that you just proved my previous point to Here4money. 5. You then back peddle and pretend you were really only talking about people elected to office. 6. I agree to go along with your little switch and ask you for examples of politicians that were libertarians and converted over to republicans once in office. 7. You provide me an example of a politician who is a republican that has libertarian tendencies but is not a libertarian. You claim victory on this absurd response. 8. I point out the inconsistency. 9. You then say that Paul and Amash are two in Congress that lean libertarian ergo all libertarians are republicans. And you think you are on the side of reason and intelligence in this debate. Have I missed anything of note other than the Fag Hag from Canada still lurking in my threads looking for attention as he tries to get a seat back at the adult's table, or the fact that you ignored showing any candidate from the Libertarian party converting over to Republican once in office, or that I gave some specific examples of socially left leaning principles I supported?
