Obamacare and big increases in minimum wages such as seen in Seattle, WA, have killed business models and have adversely affected cusomers. For example, fast food companies have cut back on employee counts per shift in order to reduce their increased costs. This has significantly increased wait times for customers. Although one can argue there are better alternatives to fast food, Government policy can cause serious unintended dislocations in the job markets. A truely free market is best determiner of pricing, not the Government.
In a perfect world. but it aint a perfect world. business gets together to make price cartels, the consumer can't choose as the whole town is rigged. what happens then is the people say ok we are sick of this and tell the government to step in. libertarians live in fantasy world, someone will always game the free market preventing perfect world free market pricing. the Bolshoviks thought they had a great little idea, everyone does their fair work for fair reward, they had meetings and all that, unicorns will fart rainbows. but there are Stalins in the world who up the applecart entirely. checks and balances get added, and more and it can't be stopped and you got government. libertarians aint real world people.

Strong point. However, This is one of the few areas Government policy can help. That and protecting our Constitution. Long term real world, past is prologue where power is closely held, tyranny forms, the elite ultimately lose their grip on power after a lot of death, and the cycle repeats. Then again, real world we become extinct in the near future on a geologic time scale because of the failure of human civilization to work out their differences. These differences tend to be derived over power struggles of various interested parties. We have an ape mentality with a human brain. An ape mentality with weapons of mass destruction, that is. Up for a in depth discussion on this subject? Or will it be more in character for us to get our clubs and see who is the real deal? Ooga! Ooga! (MPS beats chest and jumps up and down). Libertaritoons back for more episodes like Kenny. If they were able to learn they would have long ago. Sorry for the delay. I am on this site too much as it is, but I actually have other aspects to my life to attend to from time to time.
I've recently seen a discussion that had everything to go sideways, which, given the subject, it usually does... But someway, somehow, the two opposing parts actually respect each other's point and discuss it in a very civilized way... And, at the end, nobody tries to impose anything on anyone and each part accepts that the other part is simply different and deserves to have an opinion and act on it, with nobody else trying to force him into a change that fits a certain pattern that they deem acceptable. Here it is: This is what lacks in these people here... For a long time, I had a policy that I would never block anyone, because I hoped that by being polite and arguing reasonably, if I couldn't change the other guy's mind, I could at least get to a point where me and him would respectfully disagree and go our own ways... But unfortunately, a lot of these people here don't seem to be able to do it... So, no matter how polite, logic and calm you talk, they have to always get to a point where the only thing they can do is shout and/or cast personal attacks, because they don't really want to have a civilized discussion... Their only position is: "you either agree with whatever I say, or I'll just tell you you're wrong without ever trying to prove why and start to make baseless personal claims that I have no way of proving, but makes me "feel" that I "won" the discussion"(probably because they aren't capable of logically and politely defend their position and the thought of admitting that this is an indication that they might be wrong is just too painful, so they prefer to just hold on to their beliefs, no matter how much logic, facts and evidence there is against them and to do it, they do what any frightened animal does: they attack with no logic, no reason...). So, my point is: even though it is not very frequent, there are some people like the ones on the video, that despite the polarization on the subject, are able to respect each other's position, not try to change the focus of the discussion to their counterpart and actually talk about it in a logical and polite way... I have an Austrian friend for years now... He is very much on the left side of the spectrum and we hardly agree on anything because of my "minimum government and free markets" ideas... Despite that, we have never even once gone that way, because he was always able to respond to my arguments the same way I respond his. So, there's still hope... Not a lot of it, given the samples I recently blocked, but there is some...
Yet another insect that keeps bumping the lightbulb... It's actually kind of funny and sad at the same time... Just like the actual situation where an insect does exactly that... Oh well... Let's make him join his "gang".
Minimum wage increases do not kill legitimate business models. And fuck business models that don't provide a living wage. Oh, and people who always stand up for assholes are...assholes.
