This is actually a good test of things to come. In a week, two tops, we see a dramatic spike in cases or we don't. I saw the same kind of activity in my neck of the woods. Small lake near me, large enough for boating, skiing and the like. A few small lakeside type restaurants, outdoor eating type places. Lake was jumpin with boaters, place was busy, and the line to get your favorite ice cream was 40 deep, six inches apart, not six feet. We'll know in a few days if the worst is behind us or not
Numbers will obviously go up again, but probably not to the same level. Why? Because the easily killed off already died. Also people won't be willing to go back to lock down, not with the summer coming. There will be a new normal, where a constant 500-800 dead per day is accepted.
Your numbers might be slightly high IMO, but you're right, they will trend down from here, after a brief tick up, and we will accept the reality of the situation. We being the general public. Talking heads and political types will continue to hyperventilate as if ten thousand a week are dying. We all know why.
It is because as more and more people contract the Corona Virus, there is more immune people out there who cannot be infected. Extreme liberals use the panic and hysteria they continue to foment, in their efforts to destroy the US economy and try and hurt President Donald Trump's election chances. That is why Democrat governors are colluding to keep their states shutdown. Look at California which continues on its shutdown mode even though, the state has very hot weather now which kills Corona Virus? Governor Gavin Newsom made his BS re-opening of bookstores, clothes, toys with curbside pickup? Will that work or even have a dent on California's fast cratering economy? So far, 4.3 million unemployed, $54 billion deficit, 10% pay cut for state employees, $2.4 billion state obligation to Calpers will not be paid. That is just for starters. The huge taxes are coming because there are no monies left to pay the bills. Nevada and Governor Sisolak is next. Culinary union will find there are few jobs left when Las Vegas re-opens. A lot of the casinos would be shutdown for a long time. Asking to be paid while, refusing to work, yes, that is the recipe for permanently, being out of a job. Yet, that is what the unions have been doing. Casino unions will have only themselves to blame as the job losses pile up. When there is little revenues coming in, casinos will cut it to a bare minimum and shutdown other casinos. Even then, some of these casinos will not survive like what happened to New Jersey a few years ago. Consolidation in Las Vegas casinos is coming.
or because Birx is following Trump's lead on cooking the numbers are the Swedes as likely to stick their elders in group homes as Americans are or are they dying in their children's households? I'm honestly curious if what you're saying is true or are assuming old=old folks homes because you're assigning American customs.
That's about all you doomer types have left, the numbers are cooked. It must be maddening for you as we claw and scratch towards that 100K dead number. Didn't quite happen fast enough. Don't worry, we get there mid week or so and then they can bring out the extra large font and endlessly scroll that number across the screen. Maybe a couple special programs with plenty of hand wringing and pearl clutching. We're all gonna die, yes we are, just not quite fast enough. November looms.
1. NYC showed that the real death number (including home deaths) was 20% or so higher. That is not cooking just misreporting or not counting. Assuming the Swedish actually report better, US numbers are comparable to Sweden, and the US did lock down. 2. Not sure, but they acknowledge they failed to protect them correctly.
I still don't see how Sweden is an example to follow or how the PA comparison is applicable. Look at Norway or Finland, much closer pop. density, relatively equal standard of living and healthcare, 543 reported deaths combined. Sw: 3353cases/1M, 399deaths/1M Nw: 1543case/1M, 43deaths/1M Fi: 1191cases/1M, 56deaths/1M you and I know you can't just linearly extrapolate Sweden's numbers and call it a cool "120k" in the USA if we had stayed open. We'll likely stay between our current trajectory and Spain's, which will sit at 150-200k w/stay at home orders in place.
I appreciate the feedback... but I don't really post this articles or arguments for everyone. I realize a high percentage of people don't read what I write because of the typos and the fact I don't spend time composing. I don't write pretty much stream of consciousness... here. I post this stuff for people who want to read the links now and see for themselves. I also post post my speculations because later when lefties rewrite history and say no one could have know... I will be able to see... no... we could of know... we knew on this thread. However, because you are correct... i should be posting telegram style... I will make an effort to think about what I am going to write before I begin. That style is not fun for me... but I will give it a shot. This may be my last free form post.
By the way... many of these people are not idiots and are smart enough to know they may catch the virus... but are unlikely to be hospitalized... some of us just want to get it over with and get on with living and making money again. The fat ones may be taking an unnecessary risk. Those with preexisting conditions may be taking a big risk... but statically speaking as of the data which has been shared right now ... this virus is no reason for young fit people to worry about going to the beach.. That many can not understand that... shows how much fear and propaganda is other there. And lets say you get very sick. The hospitals are empty. Now is the time to get it. Remember according to a San Diego County Supervisor there have been only 6 "pure" Covid deaths in San Diego. It was widely reported and I did not see anyone correcting him.
