The Grim Phantasm FEAR

Discussion in 'Psychology' started by J_Commisso, Sep 24, 2002.

  1. x-or, That's the thing, You have fear, and it has nothing to do with what is going on outside. You have fear when it is moving against you, and you have fear when you are on a winning streak.

That's why I say, people mistakenly think their fear will go away when conditions change.

When you think about it, it all comes down to your own opinion of yourself. Most of us are good guys, and we would never treat others the way we treat ourselves.

We fear we are going to get what we deserve. So it is just a matter of giving ourselves a lighter sentence, or maybe even parole, or maybe even total freedom.

I agree. That's the same as me. But knowing yourself is also knowledge. Knowing is Believing.

  3. right, Knowledge that the world is round and not flat will cure you of your fear of sailing off the edge.

But then that fear is just transferred to the next thing you don't know. So fear in your life stays constant, and you go on an endless search to know everything so it will go away.

It is my opinion that if you confront the fear issue apart from knowledge, then your search for knowledge will be more meaningful because the motivation for your search will no longer be fear.

Let me twist it around a little bit. Knowing that you don't need to know everything. Knowing that you don't know. Knowing that you fear and the wheel of seeking know... is all knowledge.... ha ha... philosophy is such a hard topic.

  5. so it goes
    1. I had fear
    2. I overcame fear
    3. I made money

After many cycles of this it goes

Fear. step one to making money

And so it takes us right back to AAAinthebeltways observation, without fear, I lose my edge

And then through nutseals process of overcoming fear through knowledge

And after a while, everytime you feel fear, you know you are close
    You go looking for fear
Fear becomes the first sign that you are about to enter a high risk opportunity
And what more could any trader ever want?

  10. We are all programmed genetically to experience fear. It is a sudden adrenalin rush that causes the fight or flight response.

Some, are paralysed by this rush, others are total Junkies for it and can't get enough.

It's the same reason that 1 person will get halfway up a ladder and be totally frozen and need rescuing, while another will litterally jump off a cliff with a sheet attached to their back all wrapped up in a little bag.

We're all unique - learning to harness and control this response positively must be one of the keys...
