Contributed by Chriss Street. Specialist in corporate reorganizations and turnarounds, former Chairman of two NYSE listed companies. His latest book, The Third Way, describes how to achieve management excellence and financial reward by moving organizations from Conflict and Confrontation to Leadership and Cooperation. He lives in Newport Beach, CA.

The prestigious Nature Journal recently published a major climate change study named Orbital Forcing Of Tree-Ring Data that proves through analysis of over 2000 years of tree ring evidence that current climate models substantially underestimated ancient Northern Europe temperatures levels during the Roman and Medieval Periods. The fact that temperatures have trended down for the last two centuries debunks theories that anthropogenic (man-made) global-warming is caused by a rising CO2 gas levels associated with industrial burning of “fossil fuels.”

Researchers from Germany, Finland, Scotland, and Switzerland examined tree-ring density profiles in trees from Finnish Lapland. In this extremely cold environment, trees often collapse into one of the numerous lakes, where they remain well preserved for thousands of years. The international team was able to conduct high reliability calculations of tree ring density from the cold water preserved Scandinavian pine trees, which correlate very closely with annual summer temperature patterns.

  2. And how many people were killed at Fukushima? There have already been many times more people killed by GW then all the nuclear accidents in history. GW is a far greater threat to the future of mankind than nuclear power.

Did you have thermometers with regular outdoor measurements before the modern era?

Tree ring evaluation is the traditional method that has been used by the IPCC and other organizations to determine temperature in past centuries.

In other news FC has called the worldwide respected Nature journal a bullshit website with bullshit articles written by bullshit authors.

Nature, first published on 4 November 1869,[1] is ranked the world's most cited interdisciplinary scientific journal by the Science Edition of the 2010 Journal Citation Reports.[2] Most scientific journals are now highly specialized, and Nature is among the few journals (the other weekly journals Science and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences are also prominent examples) that still publish original research articles across a wide range of scientific fields. There are many fields of scientific research in which important new advances and original research are published as either articles or letters in Nature.

Let's see what Nature has to say about Tree Ring data. The summary for the 'Orbital forcing of tree-ring data' article states that "relying on tree-ring data may underestimate pre-instrumental temperatures including warmth during Medieval and Roman times.".

    1. what? are you kidding me?

please document the deaths due to man made global warming.

and let me teach you something about using your brain.

    2. you should be comparing the risk of massive tragedy times the chance it will happen and discount our certainty.

Nuclear power... we have been very close to world wide catstrophe a few times in the last 40 years.

With global warming we are not even sure a slightly warmer planet will be a bad thing overall.

    vineyards in England.
    Viking settlements in greenland
warming was good in the past.

how do we the the amount of warming man can cause is net bad.
    vs.
the amount of damage we could do with Nuclear power waste or terrorism.

  7. Bullshit AUTHOR of ARTICLE... NOT STUDY Who the hell is this guy Contributed by Chriss Street. Specialist in corporate reorganizations and turnarounds, interepting it? A bullshit lying distorting denier.

I'll wait for a comment on the study from a real scientist, not a hack.

But without really carefully looking at it I can say so what. It has nothing to do with the relative rise in temps over the last hundred years which can only be fully explained if one includes the effects of CO2. We've had actual thermometers for hundreds of years and they show the temps going up with CO2. Fast.

And, if a cooling period hits like in the middle ages we are going to have a real world wide catastrophe on our hands.

  9. Nuclear is our best option at this point. Continuing as we are with FF will lead to certain catastrophe for the biosphere and mankind. A runaway GW could kill half the species and people on earth. The fear of nuclear is mostly irrational.

  10. No chance of that or for that matter the next ice age which depends on the subtle difference in albedo from the ice. The ice is rapidly on it's way out. In fact the iceage cycles show how delicate the whole feedback system.
