    Sting... was saving rain forests

Many athletes were supporting the surfrider foundation and they were getting free ads on T.V.

now federal funding for the water on beaches is at risk.

The usual suspects thought these people, "treehuggers", "granolaheads", etc., were a joke.

that does not counter the point I was making.

The celebrities are typically two face hypocrites but some causes are worthy.

The really good argument is grounded in economics.

Everyone one enjoys the ocean or a bay... there is a lot of public utility.

If you want to pollute it or put a body of water it at risk to make a profit... you should pay for the costs of cleaning it up.

When you let a company get away with doing things to cheaply you get a fukishima.

Besides, what makes you think there's any problem with the rainforests or the oceans; not evidence, not (heaven forbid) scientists!?

    1. You act like you can't discern scientific opinion supported by data... from unsupported statements made by shams.

In courts.. the expertise of a scientist is frequently tested. The person stating their opinion should have specialized knowledge based on reliable data.

    2. I know the ocean is polluted in san diego...

on big wave days as the water rolled by or below us it smelled like sewage.

the science behind that was that big waves churn the crap up along the fairly shallow ocean floor in san diego.
I know the floor is shallow because I would sometimes free dive, snorkel and scuba dive.

Also, many of us got sick after some big wave sessions.
there are also sorts of odd surfer illnesses.

I no longer surf... for now... but I still think we should keep the oceans clean.

And you can, with data provided by... scientists? Or in your case, scientist.

Edit: or in your case, your own eyes.
