The Great Global Warming Swindle

  1. Antarctica is melting also..

"Some past studies showed melting on the polar ice sheets, while others said that the Antarctic ice sheet was growing and offsetting melting in Greenland. The new work by 47 scientists around the world combines three methods and measurements from 10 satellites to come to a scientific consensus on what's happening to the polar ice sheets.

In the 1990s, the two ice sheets combined on average lost 110 billion tons of ice each year to melting, the researchers reported. That increased and by 2005 to 2010, they were losing three times as much — 379 billion tons yearly. The numbers don't include the summer of 2012 when Greenland experienced a melt that hadn't been seen in more than a century, researchers said.

The consensus says that as a whole the Antarctic ice sheet is melting. Part of the issue is that the southern continent is not reacting to climate change uniformly, with some areas growing and others shrinking. The entire Antarctic ice sheet is about the size of the U.S. and Mexico combined.

NASA chief scientist Waleed Abdalati, one of the few top ice researchers who wasn't part of the study, praised the work.

"Understanding how and why the ice sheets are changing today better equips us for understanding and predicting how much and in what ways they will change in the future," he said

Don't waste time with these idiots, these are the same guys who tried to 'unskew' polls right upto the election. They don't operate in the real world, just whining and unskewing till reality hits them hard on the face.

Well said. And for some of those who have to deal with reality, e.g. farmers, I sure hope they get this "global cooling" news, and fast. They've been busy for years now, adapting their crops and methods to rising temperatures.

Let's focus on the reality that the data shows the earth has been cooling since 1998. Global warming promoters say this is simply a short term change in the long term warming trend due to man adding CO2 to the environment. Global warming skeptics state this proves the entire AGW thesis is completely wrong.

Let's take a look at a couple of articles:
    UN Trapped in Climate Turmoil
The man-made warming activists at the UN are trapped in turmoil over how to deal with the earth’s lack of warming since 1998. A week or so ago, the UN climate panel circulated a draft statement that would have admitted we’re unlikely to have any further earth-warming for the next 30 years “because climate change signals are expected to be relatively small compared to natural climate variability.”

This is why the 'promoters' had to change their language from 'global warming' to 'climate change' because there is no current warming in the last decade.

New NASA Data Blow Gaping Hole In Global Warming Alarmism
NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.

    and a study:
US Temperatures and Climate Factors since 1895
and the following conclusion in the study:
USHCN temperatures show a cyclical behavior over the past 112 years with peak warming about 1930 and 2000. The temperature trends correlate with a number of factors. I examined them here. I found the correlation strengths to be as follows (chart in study)

Clearly the US annual temperatures over the last century have correlated far better with cycles in the oceans and sun than carbon dioxide. The correlation with carbon dioxide seems to have vanished or even reversed in the last decade. Given the recent cooling of the Pacific and Atlantic and rapid decline in solar activity, we might anticipate given these correlations, temperatures to accelerate downwards shortly.

Bottom line - global warming has nothing to do with man-made CO2.

So the earth is cooling, but it's warming. Whichever you need it to be, just keep your hands off the energy sector's margin, is that about right?

The earth goes in natural cycles of cooling and warming just as it had for thousands of years. Man is pretty arrogant to think that they have anything to do with it on a global basis.

you theory would be interesting... except for the fact... That I predicted the polls would unskew themselves by the time the election came... and they did. You might go back and read about the time AK was lamenting the polls changed their samples around the time of the first debate and all of a sudden it was close or Romney was in the lead.

Jem, you can't show any facts to these closed minded liberals and expect them to learn anything. It's best to just give up on them and realize they suffer from shrunken brain syndrome. Nothing new goes in nor comes out.

What about mercury, is it "arrogant" to think we can create global scale problems for human health with such a tiny element?

  10. No no, God has all under his control. It's arrogant to think that man can have any effect on this world.

It's pure hubris to think that by raising a dominant greenhouse gas by 35 % that the temps might go up too. Who does man think he is?
