Given the number of children who are killed or injured by guns, the inquiry is legitimate. And it is not the aim of pediatricians to dictate how one raises his children. You will of course disagree. (How paranoid can you people get?)
If they wanted to take guns away from medically diagnosed mentally ill people, they would site examples of mentally ill people involved in shooting accidents. But they continually plaster all over their left wing blogs any accident involving guns, even if is on a shooting range. They want guns to be a dirty word for school age kids. And the public. Only a moron cannot see that they want to do away with all guns.
Doctors want to snoop into your personal privacy. At the same time they go to the wall to oppose laws that would obligate them to notify the authorities of dangerous crazy people. They say it would be "stigmatizing." Virtually all of these mass shootings has been done by a person who everyone around them knew to be crazy. typically they were being seen by shrinks, on medication and had experienced numerous incidents at school. Still, no one did a damn thing. So by all means, let's focus on giving doctors the right, even the obligation, to snoop into their patients gun ownership. What's next, interogating them on whom they voted for or if they support the Tea Party? If your kid's doctor asks this, tell them no. Then find another doctor, because you don't want that one.
