A newly elected Texas state lawmaker is under fire for a divisive Facebook post asking Muslim visitors attending an event at the state capitol in Austin to pledge allegiance to the United States. The event, Texas Muslim Capitol Day, was organized by the Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "Today is Texas Muslim Capital [sic] Day in Austin," Molly White, a House Republican, wrote on her Facebook page Thursday. "The House is in recess until Monday. Most Members including myself are back in District. I did leave an Israeli flag on the reception desk in my office with instructions to staff to ask representatives from the Muslim community to renounce Islamic terrorist groups and publicly announce allegiance to America and our laws. We will see how long they stay in my office."
In too many corners of the country, calling President Obama racially charged names has become a kind of party game. In Nebraska, partygoers are learning the game might not be so much fun anymore. A long list of educators, civil rights advocates and elected officials, including the Republican governor, are calling for the resignation of Nebraska State Board of Education member and GOP veteran Pat McPherson after his conservative blog described the president as a “half-breed.” The Southern Poverty Law Center
Lindsey Graham wants to run for president on his sterling foreign policy record. Behold his intellectual perfection
The Salon article makes no sense at all, but we do agree that Graham has been dead wrong on most foreign policy points, which is not surprising, considering he is a minor moon orbiting the planet McCain.
"News that Sen. Lindsey Graham is actively exploring a run for the presidency in 2016 should thrill and delight all serious people who think seriously about foreign policy. As I made clear in my endorsement of Graham from last October – in on the ground floor, baby! – there’s nobody in politics with a firmer grasp of how everything that happens on the international stage is linked to Benghazi. The world needs strategic thinking of that caliber now more than ever." Lol
Sarcasm is best done with a scapel, not a sledgehammer. It requires a dose of wit, which is tragically absent among the grim faces of the hard left. I'm a uniter though, not a divider. I am pleased we can (hopefully) agree that the Bush/McCain/Graham foreign policy of endless wars, clumsy meddling and revival of the Cold War is senseless. They actually will argue that the Iraq war was a good idea and worked out well. And that Putin is the modern equivalent of Hitler.
