The GOP's big problem is trying to unite fundamentalist-leaning Christians, the One Percenters, and certain other elements (let's call them the "non-youths", in honor of clubberlang), which are groups who have for each other either envy, disdain, or de facto ignorance. That's a tough thing to do, and the fractured character of the GOP today reflects it. Edit: when I say "One Percenters", I should instead say "old One Percenters", since no one wants to criticize the self-made, new One Percenters.
