Former Presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman Says ‘GOP Has No Soul’

Former Utah Governor and 2012 presidential contender Jon Huntsman had some rather sour words for his party in a recent interview, criticizing their obstructionist stances and criticizing them of being “devoid of a soul.”

In the interview, published Sunday in the Daily Telegraph, Huntsman criticized the GOP for having no central vision or platform and keeping Congress in a holding pattern until they figure one out.

“The party right now is a holding company that’s devoid of a soul and it will be filled up with ideas over time and leaders will take their proper place,” he said. “We can’t be known as a party that’s fear-based and doesn’t believe in math,” he added. “In the end it will come down to a party that believes in opportunity for all our people, economic competitiveness and a strong dose of libertarianism.”

He also criticized the GOP in a recent interview with The Huffington Post.

“In my party, compromise cannot be seen as analogous to treason, which it has been recently,” he said.

  2. You are hitting them hard today, AK.

  3. This is the best time for democrats since election night :D :D :D

  4. LOL, a new year and you're all fired up. Me thinks this whole dancing in the end zone 2 months after the election is going to come back and bite Dear Leader in the ass come the debt ceiling decision. I think the House is going to tell him to go fuck himself, let it all come crashing down. Dear Leader and the gang will blame it all on them, but just like the Captain of a sinking ship, he can blame it on the crew. He can blame it on the ship builder. He can blame it on the ocean itself, but the ship is still going to sink, it's going to sink under his command, and all the finger pointing in the world isn't going to change that.

What makes you think the 14th amendment allows him to?

  9. Because its his job to uphold the constitution and the constitution says...

"The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payments of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."

  10. Dear Leader is in for a rough ride. The congress is more divided than ever, as is the country. You can only fill this ballon with so much shit before it bursts, and we're in for a hell of a mess when it does. Dear Leader goes the route of the heavy hand, he may be in for a rude awakening as to just how little control he has in all of this.
