Here is a question that I would like to address to the US citizens here at ET. "Do you believe that the US will be a better place to live, enjoy and raise families in four years time, than it is now" There is no other intent in this question other than to solicit your opinions. regards f9
Probably won't change all that much in only 4 years. Financially we'll either have higher taxes or more deficits (or both).... depending upon which Bozo gets elected in November. Economically, we'll likely STILL be in recession like we are now*... unless the Gummint goes on a monster deficit spending spree to put people to work as did FDR. * could seem a lot worse if housing continues the decline and/or credit issues are heightened.... but in NO WAY will America EVER return to its former economic glory... too many problems and the "emerging markets labor genie" cannot be put back into the bottle.
But, but-but.... Drsteph, don't you know that a tax rate of 47% and the future currency debasement from paying workers from fed coffers to create jobs, loaning directly to students with a box checked on your income tax form, bailouts for every Tom, Dick and Harry that gets into financial trouble and is likely to vote Dem, taking over health care industry and energy industry, increasing benefits to social security, more money funneled into public education, will add up to more than 35% and the current dollar debasement. Don't think that the intent of the Obama campaign is to balance a budget. Their spending will be more splendiferous and it will be bestowed more abuntantly. Perhaps we can get the complete cleansing meltdown we need to purge this mentality from our country faster, but don't attempt to argue the federal gov is not in the money printing business at the expense of quality responsible citizens. Whomever is elected. JIM
Why would it matter? Have you not realized yet that they have almost the same playbook written by others? Everything else is just political theatre.
For one thing....I prefer Palin's character type versus the other few people that she is to be compared with that are going to be serving the US......which is not a lot of people.... The bottom line is that the 2,3,4 party system is outdated, partially because the internet has arrived, and other reasons such as most projects take longer than office time periods.... The party advertising system has been given a lot of opportunity time, and is not performing in a well managed manner..... Each country is like a family....they have assets, liabilities, and a budget....and as small or as large as the family is....it has to be managed.... But I am selfish in that I want to see the US do well, because they basically set the standard for the world.....and oh boy does the world need it..... The party advertising system is obsolete, because it is basically just a cesspool of special interests wanting taxes and laws slanted in their direction..... ................................................... I would like to see an internet driven township to township government because of better management prospects......thus simply hiring the most qualified people for the jobs needed for their projects...... Next ....all taxes eliminated except for a simple consumption tax.... Next....a special focus on a worldwide electronic stock exchange.....with better wealth distribution by merit.... Banks should be changed as to leverage allowed, and should be locally managed with asset discount type loans...... Next Energy Independence.... Next, adequate healthcare for each township ....... .................................................. The military is funded by the townships according to public voting.... All government contracts are open bid to the most qualified...... ................................................. Next....remove legal largesse of all kinds...... .................................... Done
Libertad, I so totally agree with every point you make. I hope others read it, and that one day some of it might come to pass.
I hope people are not gleeful at the decline of America. A weak America is bad for the world. A weak America will mean Russia will be able to do whatever it wants. Unfortunately, every great power in the history of civilization will decline at some point, and America is no different.
Wait, you actually believe a word she says and her persona? It's just acting & political theatre. It's just a big show, it's FAKE. If you do any real background checking on her, she is just another politician, another hypocrite who works for her career, not the people. Her track record is relatively uneventful, she knows which issues to grab to create moves & buzz in the political arena. Even then, it's uneventful. I hate to say it, but you are VERY naive & gullible, borderline stupid if you place any hope in Palin as the savior of this nation, or anyone that McCain would have picked. As long as the masses keep validating this charade, there is no hope for the nation as a whole. Just move on, focus on yourself and those that you care about. But I doubt you will even start to understand.
Read it and do what? Continue to argue over the lesser of the two evils? Yeah, quite a solution. The closest to a solution in the current political system was Ron Paul, and he got methodically shut out by the game (although he did great IMO). Even half of ET members who believe in his stance, would not support him cause "he had no chance". Think about that for while and the type of power that the people have given up to the government & its system. They are making decisions & choices for you, no matter what you think. Do you want to continue allowing that?
I meant everything he wrote after the political statement. All politicians lie and hurt us every day. Altho Sarah is pretty cute.
