True, but it's another self serving rule they all love to yak about on the never ending campaign trail while doing nothing about it. Add in the criminals at the supreme court and their recent ruling and the big club stays intact. The only way is term limits and since that too is up to the criminals to enforce upon themselves, it ain't happening.
Actually, the other way would've been to have elected the democrat who'd appointed SCOTUS nominees more willing to rule gerrymandering as unconstitutional.
I don’t think term limits would do much except speed up the corruption. Also, I don’t think bending to corruption is as good of an idea as removing the corruption. As @TreeFrogTrader would say it’s just duct tape and bondo instead of addressing the real issue. The real issue is gerrymandering.
The real issue is corrupt politicians who are never held to account for one failed policy after another. Term limits. Cut the pay in half. Can't become a lobbyist or sit on corporate boards after serving. No pension. No lifetime healthcare. Limited campaign finance and media coverage. Then we'll see who actally wants to be a public servant.
Limited media and some serious campaign finance reform would make things much better, not perfect, but would be a significant improvement. Every candidate gets an allotted amount of air time. Of course the assholes would try to game the system by doing or saying something very controversial. Sorry, no go. Light yourself on fire, go have some farm animal sex, kill an opponent, whatever, once your allotted time is gone, it's gone. We can also just eliminate 90 percent of "news" air time altogether. Most of the news day is just repeating the same shit over and over. The entire industry needs a bowel cleansing.
