cta trader In reply to your pm what I'm saying is that 2 of your 4 posts suggest that you have something for sale and since your homepage is a commercial site I'm guessing, just guessing mind you, that you have an ulterior motive. If I'm wrong may I rot in hell.
I guess we all have something to sell, even if its ourselves. I have been a pro trader, CTA and bank prop trader for many years. My hope is to throw my 2 cents in just in case it helps. I have alot of commercial interests in alot of areas of futures trading, but I am not trying to sell them. For example, I am a CTA, but I am not looking for new investors. Also, I have sold systems, but I am not selling any now and I have a brokerage affiliation, but I dont think you will see me ever promote it. In this case, I have seen almost every system that could possibly be constructed. I have some ideas on the few that are good. Some that I think are good will still blow-up. I dont want the liability of throwing a name out to the public and then be sued by somebody who read the post and lost money. I am very new to posting messages, so any advice is welcome.
Hi cta trader.....you said "I have a few systems I like, but I am reluctant to post them publicly. If you want I can email them to you privately or speak by phone." I would be interested in learning your "school of hard knocks" systems. Please e mail me lesbar@attbi.com.....thanks, Larry
cta_trader, You state all of the above, and yet say you are not selling anything. Then why state it at all? Given your extensive background, why not just post what works, and what doesn't work, and leave the names out of it, so you are not held liable. Ideas, concepts, and techniques are all welcome in this journal. Subtle spamming is not. Advice... talk to Baron, the owner of this site, and sponser a thread to get the word out about you and your site, and what you want to "not" sell. If you would like to continue this conversation, please feel free to pm me privately, as I do not want to lose the flow of this thread. Thank you. Huios
The best "calls" are your own - then you know exactly why you got in, and exactly where [you should] get out. nitro
Huios, You said that you use the ADX to keep you out of the chop. If you don't mind, what are your settings and how do you use it? I currently use it w/ a 15 period setting and enter my positions when the ADX goes over 30 on the 3 minute chart in the direction of the 5 minute trend. I still end up in some chop though... TIA, Whamo
<sniff><sniff> I smell a salesman here. These boards are anonymous. We did not have to know you were a cta, etc. How about just giving a few pointers here and there and not mention these systems available by private messaging.
I use the default settings, 14,14, and wait till the ADX is over 15. It is not perfect, nothing is, but it helps. I would think that waiting till it is over 30, alot of the move would be over, and you would end up in the chop at the top, but this is just a guess. Check out http://traderclub.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?107/107 for more info on ADX. He's forgotten more than I will ever know about ADX. Note in general: I'm not saying that the ADX is the know all, trade all indicator. I know it is a good trend indicator, and is a good measure of the strength of a trend, but it does have it's limitations, as does everything, and you need to know what they are, and how they affect your trading style. And that only you can figure out. H
