Only traded after 2:00. Meet the teacher, school supply shopping, and lunch with dad took up the morning. :)

    4 trades, 2 winners, 1 loser, 1 b/e for +3.75 pts.

  4. Huios, I'm opening an account with IB and noticed they don't have a backup call desk. Also noticed they've had some problems back in July with link to Globex. Large volumes clogged the pipes and orders got stuck for many minutes causing either lots of pain or gain depending on which way your order needed to go.

Have you had any experiences with your orders not going through or IB's platform being down while in the middle of a trade? Gives me pause for thought....

When I'm papertrading, I just give the gross points. When I'm trading real $$$, I give net $$$$, minus commissions.

Hope to be real trading next week, after J is back in school, and I have the house to myself.

This just happened to me for the first time yesterday. Disconnected for a short time (seconds, not minutes) and luckily she was going in my direction.

I have a backup broker's trading desk on speed dial (ZAP Futures), and can enter an opposing order in less than 45 seconds.

Have a backup broker. Everyone I know who uses IB has one. Don't leave home without them.

Even so, I still love IB's execution speed and cost.

    6 trades, 2 winners, 3 losers, and 1 b/e for +1.75

Ran some errands this morning when the chop persisted. Trend following don't work ina range bound market. The last 4 trades, when the trend was pronounced, were 2 winners, 1 loser and 1 b/e for+ 3.75. Things are still falling into place. Just got to learn to stay out of the kind of market that doesn't fit my trading plan. During nice trend days, that is my bread and butter, but I can still find a trend or two during the range bound markets, but have to learn to pick 'em better, and stay away from the marginal entries.

    6 trades, 2 winners, 1 loser, 3 b/e for +4 pts.

Today was my first trading day in which was a Fed announcement. I missed the trend this morning and ended up being in a scalp mode, instead of a trend mode, so my exits were different. Missed the first leg up, but hit the second, third, and fourth. Exited early on the 4th. If I would have been in trend mode, and stuck to my exits, I would have been stopped out on the 11:03 bar, for a little over 8 pts on one trade, instead of 5.25 on 3 trades.

Lots of chop during lunch, and some huge bars after the announcement. After it settled down, took a short (paper traded the paper trade) after it broke 897 (s/r line). Used the trailing exit, and rode it almost all the way down. I didn't count due to it not being a "real" paper trade for me.

I start trading real $$$ again tomorrow

    Here's todays chart

  9. Hi Huios,

Question: Are your trade entries based upon the completion of the 3min interval?

If not...why do you use the 3min chart?

I'm asking because of trade #6. Good stop/loss management but I don't understand the entry because the 3min interval finished strongly bullish when the first 1min of that interval looked bearish.

Thus, it looks like you are either using the 1min chart for entry or using the 3min chart without allowing the candlestick/bar to complete (confirming what you see).

They are supposed to be. LOL.

T6 was an outlier. No doubt about that. I wanted to get in on the big drop, and didn't wait for the setup, much less the trigger. And when the big drop came, I didn't even "trade" it, but watched.

I know, stick to the plan.

    Thanks N.

    :)
