Yeah anti-gov Elon who never turned down a gov freebie. Guess the idea of tunneling through a lot of chit, as well as accounting for a lot of chit above (buildings, roads etc), ain't as simple as he thought.
%% Fossil fuels are a big improvement over horses; asphalt streets are much cleaner than horses + mud streets. ONE time my neighbor said ''HEY'' So I said, HEY. Then she threw some hay out to her horses LOL.
Goats are far more efficient. They're being used to weed the hills, where machines can't go. Goats make milk transformed into cheese, they reproduce, and can be eaten. What does the weed wacker do? It's noisy, pollutes and breakdown.
More graft and cronyism trying to buy votes at the last minute. And we sit here wondering why inflation isn't under control and why our industrial base is shot?!?!! Maybe, just maybe, we shouldn't be subsidizing things people don't yet want. You want to give money to a non-profit research lab that's one thing (not that I condone that either; I'm a fairly hardliner)... but directly into the pockets of your close friends is another matter altogether.
I'd love to see a source for this ridiculous piece of confirmation bias. #17 on the list of "Top 101 counties with the highest carbon monoxide air pollution readings in 2012 (ppm)" Read more: https://www.city-data.com/county/Marin_County-CA.html #44 on the list of "Top 101 counties with the highest Nitrogen Dioxide air pollution readings in 2012 (ppm)" Read more: https://www.city-data.com/county/Marin_County-CA.html But sure all the vehicles are electric, they just still spew CO. But those numbers are old! Ok let's look at some real time data. Randomly selected normal city South Albany NY CO reading 0 https://aqicn.org/city/usa/newyork/south-albany/ Marin CO reading 3 https://aqicn.org/city/california/marin/san-rafael/ Found it..... Actual number 34% https://insideevs.com/news/689014/us-counties-ev-market-penetration-30percent/ Vicbee is full of it as usual. He picked the place with basically the highest adoption in the US and still had to lie and double it. But are the EVs even solving a problem? "The national average residential price per kilowatt hour is 16.12 cents, while residents of Marin County pay an average rate of 127.93% above the national average at 36.75 cents per kilowatt hour." "No electricity generation takes place in Marin County, resulting in the county needing to import their electricity from outside of their borders." "Located north of San Francisco, Marin County has a population of 250,000. MEA, chaired by the county’s elected supervisor, Charles McGlashan, says it gets about 78 percent of its electricity from solar, wind, hydroelectric, and even geothermal sources." So despite all those solar panels and power walls, Marin can't meet it's own needs and must buy electricity elsewhere. Even then, by paying more than double the typical cost for electricity, they still aren't "renewable". If these people had any sense, they'd be building nuke plants. P.S. Placing a giant lithium battery inside the living space of you home is moronic. It's like storing 100 gallons of gasoline in your couch. Something like that belongs in a shed or buried in a hole.
California is 163,296 square miles Marin County is 828 square miles IOW the county is 0.005% of the total state landmass. + + And population comparison 39,030,000 262,231 Similarly it is 0.007% of total pop.
Lol..talk about grabbing for strawmen. First you pull irrelevant data from 12 years ago when EVs didn't exist, then acknowledge it but still try to use it to make your point. I used Marin county because I know the area. 34% EV ownership doesn't surprise me, it's among the highest in the country, my point in my previous post to view the future today. I pointed to the little upscale town of Mill Valley, population 14k, to further emphasize what EV adoption looks like, from experience. Walk the town and it seems like every house has an EV, Powerwalls and solar panels. Did I do a survey? No, I was making a point but your rigid engineering bias can't absorb the emphasis. But your logic fails when you use cost of electricity to question the usefulness of EVs... . EVs aren't spewing carbon monoxide, that's the point. And 78% of Marin's electricity is green, even better. Since when do counties in the US have to be energy independent? What a ridiculous observation. The point has been made that Marin is an affluent county; believe me, they don't give 2 shits if their energy cost is 3x higher than the national average because they make 3x more. Powerwalls are your Boogeyman? Smoke your joint next to your 100 gallons of gas and let's have a laugh. Are you an engineer or just play one on this board?
Oil and gas have been subsidized since the beginning of times, airplanes and automobiles have been subsidized since their inventions. This is a transition, from what helped the world move to the industrial age which brought great progress and great damage to humans and the environment, to a post industrial age where we consciously figure out how to provide the necessary energy to the world while minimizing ecological and health damages in the process. What's wrong with that?
