So with millions of evs being sold into 2030 and the record breaking buildings of generative Ai and data centers how much will electricity skyrocket. ...

They are saying we will not be able to keep up with the outdated infrastructure....

And my electric costs have gone up between 30 to 35% the last 2 years alone....I know someone who pays over a $1000 a month to keep cool in the summer just because they need to feel 67 degrees consistently while home....my friends bill is around $550 in summer and they use new efficiency ACs ...the booming costs in electricity is no joke and with only 1 or 2 companies controlling your electricity in certain cities you can't just say I'm going to change over to this or that company.

    Eventually you'll find a friend:

How many EVs are sold in the US each year?
EV sales in the U.S. saw an increase of 60% year over year from 1 million in 2022 to 1.6 million in 2023. The U.S., Europe and China represent the three largest global markets in EV sales.7 Jun 2024

Let's just say that if it were not for the tax credit of $7500 and the additional thousands of dollars towards ev vehicles would not be selling...that 1.6 million figure would actually be under 800k. Sales would be anemic and lots full of evs but the free money and really cheap leases have people buying these up...
The only reason these cars are selling is because of how cheap they are getting rid of them, even states are offering their own tax credits towards new evs and even used evs are getting a credit as well up to $4000.

Look at tesla. Musk continues to drop pricing on all models just so he can beat sales figures like they did last week. Only way he can sell evs is by dropping the price, all while margins take a hit.

I'm not an absolutist when it comes to sources of energy because I expect the transition to green energies to take a couple decades at least. Coal should certainly be the first to be shut down and China is the most affected by the pollution its coal plants create, but they're also the largest and fastest producers of green electricity.
Tech evolves so quickly that whatever came out 5 years ago is already old. Charging, batteries... Soon enough the issue of charging speed will disappear and cars will have 500+ miles autonomy. These are the early days of the transition!

Tesla is cutting prices to adjust to competitive pressures, like any business does when necessary. The good news is its profit margin is still higher than any ICE manufacturers. The share price just blew the roof because China demand is back to expectations and Tesla may still hit 2M sales in 2024.

Competition of course but still without reducing prices tesla would have come in with a sub 400k......fisher just went bankrupt and like tesla lucid was discounting all 2023s recently. Some were driving these 80k to 100k cars off the lots for under 500 a month. ....the Competition is in China and the US knows it....I say bring the China EV to the US and let them play here.

And as for robo taxi. That's nothing but hype to keep tesla stock afloat. And let me say if robo taxis are implemented the amount of jobs lost in that industry would be significant.

I am a half convert, driving a PHEV, the best of both world.

My Honda Clarity has a 50 mi electric range, enough for most daily errands and on an occasional long trip, it is on hybrid ICE with 45 MPG and I fill up a few times a year. The one advantage not often mentioned about EV is I don't have to go to a gas station and can charge at home.
