Agreed, to a point. The key distinction is that most Republicans are not conservatives. What we need are conservatives or classical liberals. We currently have precious few of either.

Exactly. Fiscal conservatives have been pushed out of politics almost entirely. Bush wasn't a good economic President, primarily because he overspent. Unfortunately, Obama is like Bush on crack, spending at a pace that would make Karl Rove blush. Regardless, this country is headed towards the abyss, but with the Dems we'll get there a generation or two earlier.
