The Japanese Emperor is a member of the longest lasting dynasty in the world and is the 125th descendant of Emperor Zimmu who founded the dynasty 2600 years ago. Their Shinto religion predates western history though many Japanese worship at both Shinto and Buddhist temples and very few Japanese believe in a divine God but rather view religion as a set of duties and traditions. Modern Japan appears quite civilized but beneath a thin veneer of westernized culture one finds feudalism. The warrior class no longer rules with the sword but wields power from the boardrooms of Japan's businesses. China never had a warrior culture and never had much success in war. Without assistance from the US and Great Britain Japan would have entirely conquered China in WWII. I've been around this forum long enough to recognize that the left will support whichever side of any issue that is perceived to be bad for the United States so it is entirely predictable that the leftists in P&R will favor China in any conflict between China and Japan. I do have a point to my post and it is that I don't believe that China would ever seriously provoke Japan into military action. The aggression exhibited by China over the disputed islands in the north as well as their aggression towards the Philippine navy over some disputed waters in the south is just for domestic consumption by their somewhat nationalistic population. China isn't looking for real trouble.
