The dream to trade.

  1. Negative how so?

I can definitely relate to people not understanding. Even my friends who are educated in finance have little to no clue about trading. Particularly day trading.

I don't have any real world people I discuss trading with because of that.

It boils down to interest. If you do not have interest in something, you won't care. Most people do not want to know about it because they believe that it is unattainable and hard. They would rather listen to others telling them to diversify their portfolio. The only ones I talk to about trading are other traders I interact with. So, we have the same interest which is trading. I also, try and help them be good traders. Compare that to Bitcoin or other crypto currency which promises millions and the dream to be instantly, rich. I have had friends and relatives who got hooked on crypto currency. I told them I do not trade it when they asked. Also, explained what I felt was the risks in trading crypto currency. They are all adults, they can decide what they want to do with their monies. Most people want to be instantly, filthy rich overnight without any effort. Go buy a Mega Millions or Powerball ticket, it costs just $2 a ticket. Or go to Las Vegas and plunk down thousands and dream of hitting that grand jackpot of $100,000 or more playing slots, blackjack, roulette or craps. Does not really matter because the house (casino) always wins out in the end. A lot of fools even now believe they can beat the casino and plunk down thousands which they lose every bit of. Then, they come back over and over again. Still chasing that pipe dream of theirs.

You can't really blame them, they are skeptical for good reason. You have to be in the elite category to make serious money consistently.

But whatever, who cares. It's your life and you don't need anybodys approval or validation.

If trading and travelling is still your dream, it means you weren't able to achieve them yet.

Wait for your dreams to become reality. Otherwise, it might explain why everybody is giving you such negative comments.

  5. This is not true necessarily. For OP it probably is. But in reality, if you become successful in trading or whatever else it is likely that you are eclipsing everyone you know. No one will be happy for you here and will be looking for your downfall, and maybe even work to make it happen. In all likelihood, you will have to keep everyone you know at a distance.

Or, he turns into a degenerate gambler and insufferable bore.

It is best to obsess privately or find other kindred spirits.

  7. A great philosopher once said "Mo Money, Mo Problems". I'm going to lean towards that being the truth rather than your projection of whatever it is.

  8. Be careful viewing it as a dream, that can potentially make it a lot more difficult to accomplish. Because you imagine yourself overwhelming happy if you accomplish it, which for most people puts undo stress and pressure on them to succeed which can lead to them making poor choices or rushing things.

It's very akin to if you really like a woman. If you get obsessed with her or go overboard trying to please her at every turn and never standing up for yourself or being your own person, she will sense that and become very bored with you quickly and run away as fast as she can.

Not exactly the same thing, but hopefully you get the general idea.

    Get over it.

If you are trading to be accepted or esteemed by others, quit now.

The only people who respect traders are other traders.

Unless you run into another trader, it is useless to talk trading. They do not care or are instantly lost. My wife only cares if it is a good day or a bad day.

It is a waste of time trying to validate this field to those outside of it, you will be prejudged as a gambler, or someone who cannot work a real job, or worse. if you cannot get over this quit now.
Your real friends accept it, and view it as a mystery. But hey, do you really know all the details your friends do at their jobs all week, or just the big project there company is doing ? So your providing liquidity to the world's economy if you need a big picture purpose.

I go to a social and my wife is a nurse, people want to talk all night to my wife about Covid or other health issues, rarely is there someone to talk about trading, I accept it and learn about Covid and whatever else people are talking about.

It bugged me at first, but then I it turned into an advantage.
    1) I further expanded my interests beyond trading, so I spend most all my relating with others in these interests. It also breaks the 24 hour consuming market mind focus.
2)I laugh to myself, and celebrate other's misconceptions about trading ( Where is a positive movie or documentary about Wall Street traders ? ) . If everybody was as interested and consumed by trading as I was, it would be harder to make profits.

The quicker you can make an attitude or ego adjustment about what others think, the more relaxing life will be and the probably more profitable trading will be. Good luck to you.
