+1. I like Cruz and Paul too. I liked Jeb as Gov down here, but that's a different story. That said, I don't want any establishment pub on the ticket again. It's a loser. Agreed, Cruz has little chance, but I LOVE his current war with Rove.
I understand your point that all Mexicans crossing the border illegally are criminals. That's true by definition. What, however, does that have to do with Trumps assertion. Wouldn't it be ironic if the per capita rate of the serious crimes Trump mentioned were to INCREASE, were all undocumented Mexicans rounded up and deported tomorrow? That is to say the presence of these Mexican illegals may actually be diluting the criminal population in the U.S. Who is to say, without real numbers? (Oh, I forgot. Our Miss Coulter has them, right? She must be the only one in the country that has an accurate figure for the number of undocumented Mexicans in the U.S. I imagine the Bureau of Labor Statistics would pay a handsome price for those numbers!) Trump's colorful and provocative remarks are a flawless example of the rhetoric of the populist politician. It sells well. It sold you!
You keep trying to tie me to Trump on this. I'm discussing this because someone in this forum mentioned stats of criminals here illegally in relation to those here naturally (and I didn't specify Mexicans. I said illegals. That means anyone from anywhere by way of the southern border, which they seem to prefer over the northern). That's a hell of a twist you've incorporated: What if the influx of illegals lowered crime? Tell that to the gang bangers coming in (Obama has even mentioned this). Tell that to the potential terrorists coming in. Tell that to the drug couriers and dealers coming in. Now, if you were to tell me LEGAL immigrants coming in might reduce crime being committed by naturals, I would say "Let's speed up the process!" Now which part of Trump's comments do you think he sold me on? Let me help you out. He hasn't told me anything I haven't known since long before he or any other candidate has entered the race. I do agree with you, though. He is one hell of a populist.
Don't care much for her. I'll pass. But here is just one life that was lost by not enforcing existing law (he may not have been here even once if we actually enforced our border laws). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ed-FIVE-TIMES-condemn-officials-let-stay.html Mother of Californian woman 'shot dead at random' by illegal Mexican immigrant who had been deported FIVE TIMES...
Which of her numbers do you have a problem with? I haven't gone back and looked at her column, but as I recall her facts were easily verifiable. Mainly she recounted specific crimes by illegals and their domination of the Ten Most Wanted lists.
we're in strong agreement on that one. In fact, she has no numbers, for which she has blamed the government and a cooperating media. Nevertheless, without numbers, she wrote an entire piece detailing several Mexican rapists, and their truly horrible crimes. She was able to turn up enough of these Mexican miscreants covered by the press over the past 15 or twenty years to fill an entire column. The same press she has accused of a cover-up because some of the stories did not bother to mention that the perpetrator was a Mexican! Maybe I'll write a column on the four or five skinny blonds that killed their husbands during the past twenty years. That right there would be enough to convince some of us that we ought to sit up and take notice should we be married to one.
Change your column to husbands just sitting up and taking notice of their wives could make you a very successful columnist, and save a few husband's lives, possibly many.
I agree with that. I don't think he'll enforce the border, and may actually be the worst choice for that. He seems to be the establishment favorite, and that bothers me the most. I live in the NW part of the state. They don't have Northeastern accents here...yet.
