Comparing pediatric Covid deaths to other pediatric deaths is the best way to understand the context of Covid deaths although rare...Covid is (was) the leading cause of death for children during this Pandemic.

Yet, I suspect that at the end of 2023...RSV pediatric deaths will have moved up on the list to near the top. There's no vaccine for RSV. :(

We study the theory of "immunity debt" in college and it is just a theory blown out of the water when you compare states that had high mask wear ratios to states that had low mask wear ratios. Unfortunately, the anti-masker has latched onto the immunity debt theory even though it has been disproven many many years ago involving other diseases.
    • Children have similar RSV numbers per capita regardless of which state they live in.
In contrast, I'm more open to the theory that a prior recovery from a Covid illness (mild:barely a cough or severe:brief hospitalization) or living in the same household as someone else with Covid...considering we now know that Covid does in fact cause problems with our immune system long after we recover from a prior infection.
    • A good friend of mine, he and his wife (very healthy) had a mild Covid infection in the fall of 2020. Their toddler...nothing. Yet, in late 2022...that kid now 2 years older had a bad RSV infection that resulted in hospitalization. Also, no one in the family is Covid vaccinated (one of the few friends not vaccinated) and there's no vaccine for RSV.
Thus, Covid has weakened the immunity of those children that resulted in them being susceptible to FLU and RSV.

If I'm correct, children's immunity will eventually adapt (their immune system learns fast) and we'll be back to normal within a few years. Unfortunately, the elderly will not.
