Hmm, who was it around here that talked about how COVID deaths could possibly be misclassified and actually lower? I can't recall. CDC Removes 24 Percent of Child COVID-19 Deaths, Thousands of Others The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has removed tens of thousands of deaths linked to COVID-19, including nearly a quarter of deaths it had listed in those under 18 years old. The health agency quietly made the change on its data tracker website on March 15. “Data on deaths were adjusted after resolving a coding logic error. This resulted in decreased death counts across all demographic categories,” the CDC says on the site. The CDC relies on states and other jurisdictions to report COVID-19 deaths and acknowledges on its website that the data is not complete. But the statistics are often cited by doctors and others when pushing for COVID-19 vaccination, including figures who believe virtually all children should be vaccinated. Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the CDC’s director, cited the tracker’s death total in November 2021 while pushing for an expert panel to advise her agency to recommend vaccination for all children 5- to 11-years-old. Before the change, the CDC listed 1,755 children as dying from COVID-19 along with approximately 851,000 others, according to Kelley Krohnert, a Georgia resident who has been tracking the updates. The update saw the CDC cut 416 deaths among children and over 71,000 elsewhere, arriving at a total of just under 780,000. The agency declined to provide a comment by deadline; it later provided some more details on the changes. The CDC previously adjusted its death count in August 2021 “after the identification of a data discrepancy.” “The update is an improvement, but it’s at least the third correction to this data, and still does not solve the issue. It just highlights that people have been using a flawed source of data when discussing kids and COVID,” Krohnert told The Epoch Times in an email. Some journalists and doctors have been citing the tracker data while others use a tally that is managed by the CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has been described by the agency as more reliable. The NCHS tally, which is compiled from death certificates, currently lists 921 deaths involving COVID-19 among children and some 966,000 deaths involving COVID-19 among other age groups. The deaths in the tally include people who died with COVID-19 and people who died from COVID-19, a CDC spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email in January. COVID-19 was listed as the underlying cause, or the primary death cause, on about 90 percent of death certificates at the time. An electron microscope image shows SARS-CoV-2 (round gold objects), which causes COVID-19, emerging from cultured cells. (NIAID) Some of the deaths listed by the CDC appear unrelated to COVID-19. For instance, several deaths have drowning as a cause of death; several others were listed as being from a gun discharge, according to an Epoch Times review of the death codes. For now, the update on the tracker was described as “great news” by Dr. Alasdair Munro, a clinical research fellow for pediatric infectious diseases at University Hospital Southampton, given that nearly a quarter of the pediatric COVID-19 deaths had vanished. But Munro, writing on social media, called it “slightly worrying that this data was being used widely in the US to guide or advocate for policy.” Some people called for the CDC to issue a public apology or at least announce such updates, similar to how some lower-level agencies have made clear lowering their death counts. “It’s outrageous to quietly footnote such a consequential error,” Jessica Adams, a former regulatory review officer at the Food and Drug Administration, said on Twitter. A former CDC spokesperson, though, noted the CDC website outlines that the data are estimated and subject to change. “There is much complexity involved in all systems that are trying to track and summarize illness and death data, including differences in how data are collected and reported, completeness and accuracy of data, how timely data is entered into data collection systems and reported to CDC, and in the assumptions made, and procedures used to determine whether COVID-19 was the primary cause of death, a contributing cause of death, or not likely a contributing factor in someone’s death,” Glen Nowak, the former spokesperson, who is now an associate dean for research and graduate studies at the University of Georgia, told The Epoch Times in an email. “It is thus not surprising that adjustments or revisions happen, including as a result of coding-related issues (e.g., recognizing, as more cases and information are provided, that a better way to enter, analyze, and/or interpret the data existed).” Nowak said he wasn’t surprised the CDC did not announce the adjustment, given the disclaimers, asserting that announcements by federal agencies “are best reserved for events or developments that have or could have significant impact on government recommendations or policies.”
Let's take a look at the reality --- Unvaccinated children are completely unprotected against Covid, even after catching it. Most unvaccinated children lack antibodies after COVID https://www.reuters.com/business/he...r-covid-gsk-vaccine-shows-promise-2022-03-21/ Most children and adolescents do not have COVID-19 antibodies in their blood after recovering from a SARS-CoV-2 infection, new data has confirmed. Starting in October 2020, researchers in Texas recruited 218 subjects between the ages of 5 and 19 who had recovered from COVID infections at some point in the past. Each provided three blood samples, at three-month intervals. More than 90% were unvaccinated when they enrolled in the study. The first blood test showed infection-related antibodies in only one-third of the children, the researchers reported online Friday in Pediatrics. Six months later, only half of those with the antibodies still had them. The study was designed to detect the presence of antibodies, which are only one component of the immune system's defenses, not the amount of antibodies. The level of protection even in those with antibodies is unclear. Researchers found no differences based on whether a child was asymptomatic, severity of symptoms, when they had the virus or due to weight or gender. "It was the same for everyone," Sarah Messiah of UTHealth School of Public Health Dallas, said in a statement. "Some parents... think just because their child has had COVID-19, they are now protected and don't need to get the vaccine," Messiah said. "We have a great tool available to give children additional protection by getting their vaccine."
How many kids died from COVID, GWB? Make sure to reduce the number like the CDC did recently due to "coding errors", haha....
Maybe you need to dig in an understand the "coding errors" rather than the nonsense pushed in the Epoch Times. Most of these deaths will shortly added back to the tally after they are more fully investigated and coding is corrected. In other news -- despite numerous claims in absurd articles... the majority of European countries strongly support vaccinating children and teens. Only a small number of European countries such as Sweden (and we saw what a fiasco their Covid response has been) have come out saying children should not be vaccinated. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control report titled "Overview of the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination strategies and deployment plans in the EU/EEA" provides full details. https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/sites/de...deployment-plans-in-the-EU-EEA-Jan-2022_1.pdf
So once again you are whining "Where are all the dead children, it only matters if the children are dead". This act is old. All the hospitalizations of children and all the Long Covid cases are meaningless apparently. All the misery is meaningless. It seemly only matters if the children are dead. This type of twisted thought process is a sad commentary on society. Similarly I expect next we will hear that the Russian invasion of Ukraine does not matter because "where are all the dead children". Unless there are many dead children the brutal war being waged by Putin does not matter.
How many kids died from COVID, GWB? Why can't you answer this simple question? How many kids have "Long COVID"?
It's astounding that people still don't understand that children do in fact die from Covid although it's a rare event (less than 1% of Covid Deaths) and that children do suffer from Long Covid. Why do people insist on putting a number on it when they can easily get off their lazy asses and look up the info in less than a few minutes ??? Pediatric Covid Deaths below by the CDC as of March 21st 2022 for the United States. The biggest age group with a revision down was in the Age 16-17...I can't remember the prior exact number but it was over +300. Now it has been revised down to 286 deaths. Regardless, if you're the parents or family member of one of these children that died from Covid...one is too many. Thus, I doubt they give a damn about some exact number like the idiots keep demanding and debating about. Age Group 0 - 4 years old: 409 Age Group 5 - 11 years old: 315 Age Group 12 - 15 years old: 346 Age Group 16 - 17 years old: 286 revision The above Pediatric Covid Deaths are the United States numbers from @ https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#demographics In the United Kingdom, the UK advocacy group Long Covid Kids says that it currently has details of 1200 children with long covid from 890 families in England. “And that number has been rising quickly,” says founder Sammie Mcfarland. “Not one has returned to their previous health, and most are unable to do their normal activities.” https://www.healthychildren.org/Eng...Long-Haul-COVID-19-in-Children-and-Teens.aspx If you're looking for exact numbers...best you look at the numbers in the U.K. or Canada that has been keeping excellent data on Pediatric Long Covid. In comparison, the United States has done a poor job in gathering all of its data from the state hospitals and medical clinics. As for Long Covid... below is the Canada numbers. Regardless, a child with long covid is tough on Parents. Many miss work to care for their child, children miss school, miss social activities and there is great fear in revisiting the local hospital with your child that has Long Covid because there are still Covid patients in the hospital fighting for their life. 1 in 4 Canadian children is suffering from Long Covid. Simple math...that's about 25% of children that had Covid...they developed Long Covid. ‘Heartbreaking’: How long COVID is impacting children From being an active, sports-loving 10-year-old kid to missing gym class, COVID-19 has turned Matthew Kirpatrick’s life upside down. The Edmonton fifth grader tested positive for COVID-19 in September last year. Initially he was mildly ill, but weeks after, his family was shaken and struggling for answers. “We went for a family bike ride and that’s when we knew something was terribly wrong,” said Nancy Kirkpatrick, Matthew’s mother. “He stopped midway through. He couldn’t catch his breath, and he complained of this horrible chest pain.” They booked an appointment with a family physician, but before they could get in, Matthew collapsed in an alleyway while walking home from school one day and broke his front tooth. “There was blood everywhere, and I was bleeding all the way home. It was just dripping down my face. It was horrifying,” the 10-year-old told Global News. Matthew Kirkpatrick pictured here before COVID-19 infection. Photo supplied by Nancy Kirkpatrick Since then, Matthew has had two more severe blackouts at school. On one occasion, he fell out of his desk and dropped to the floor. And the second time in November, his teacher had to yell and physically rouse him after he passed out in class in a “very awkward position”, his mother said. Matthew’s COVID-19 infection caused tachycardia, the cardiologist who diagnosed the problem told the family. It’s a condition where the heart rate races to more than 100 beats per minute. Matthew Kirkpatrick pictured here in the cardiologist’s waiting room before his stress test. Photo supplied Persistent symptoms More than two years into the pandemic, experts are still trying to determine the impact of long COVID — when symptoms last at least a month after a person is diagnosed with COVID-19 — and learn how to help the sufferers. Those people are often referred to as COVID long haulers. A new study published Sunday ahead of peer review, suggests that one in four children and adolescents will suffer some form of post-COVID-19 symptoms. Mood swings, fatigue, and sleep disorders are the most common. Cardiorespiratory symptoms, such as chest pain and tightness, variations in the heart rate and palpitations are less common but are reported in the study that analyzed over 80,000 people aged between 0 and 18 years. Dr. Scott Hadland, chief of adolescent medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, said it is worrying to see mood symptoms, sleep disturbances and fatigue linger for at least a month after COVID-19 infection. While children are less likely to suffer severe COVID-19 illness, this latest piece of research is a reflection that “COVID is not without consequences for kids”, said Hadland. The mental toll of living through the pandemic is a factor for many teens, but some of the symptoms can be attributed to the virus too, he added. However, Dr. Fatima Kakkar, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at the CHU Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal, has doubts about the accuracy of the study and the methods used, saying it doesn’t reflect what is being observed in the clinical day-to-day reality. Since the start of the pandemic, Kakkar said her children’s hospital has only had 20 referrals for long COVID out of the thousands of kids who have had the infection. She said teenage girls were more susceptible to post-COVID symptoms than younger kids. “We’re not seeing persistent symptoms that cause dysfunction in the vast majority of children,” she said. Return to normal life In Canada, and elsewhere, many children remain unvaccinated, as COVID-19 shots have so far not been approved for those under the age of five. As restrictions are lifted across the country, Kakkar said families with young children should proceed with caution as they return to some form of normalcy. “I think it’s reasonable for them [young children] to go about their activities, but their entourage has to be really, really well-protected if they aren’t already,” she said. British mom Claire Hastie has twin boys, William and James, who have been struggling with long COVID for the past two years. The teenage boys from Durham caught the infection three times. Their symptoms have ranged from severe headaches, chest pain, body aches, diarrhea to feet blisters caused by a condition called COVID toes, nosebleeds and seizure-like episodes. William and James, 13, pictured here with their mother. Photo supplied by Claire Hastie The physical struggles have forced the 13-year-olds to miss out on school and a social life. “It’s been really hard for them because they’ve been in and out so much,” their mother said. “So everyone’s had a very disrupted education, but … [for] the children with long COVID, it’s been even more because it’s all of the relapses and symptoms have really made it difficult.” Hastie, who is also suffering from long COVID, worries about the long-term health effects since there is limited data and studies on long COVID. “It’s heartbreaking and we have no idea what repeated infection is doing to our children’s growing bodies,” she said. Those concerns are shared by the Kirkpatricks. While Matthew’s health has improved with less complaints of dizziness and chest pain, the Edmonton family is not taking any chances. “Our life is now going to be just a bit different. I think we’re going to be pretty cautious about everything,” said Nancy Kirkpatrick. https://globalnews.ca/news/8688590/long-covid-symptoms-children/ wrbtrader
Children die all the time, and it is always unfortunate. The fact that children die from COVID isn't the point, and no one is disputing that. Children die from the flu, or from pneumonia, or other respiratory diseases. Or from falling down stairs. The issue is that so few children die from COV that it isn't necessary to make the vast preponderance 99.9999% of kids to lose their childhood, not go to school, force vaccinate with a new vaccine, mask up to get developmental issues and all the other side effects. That is the point. You can post all sorts of pics showing kids who tragically succumbed to COVID, or from the Flu, or from drowning if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that you are making an emotional based argument devoid of facts.
