COVID-19 live updates: Pediatric cases reach highest point of pandemic Just 62.3% of Americans ages 12 and up are fully vaccinated. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/live-updates/covid-delta-variant-surge/?id=79856482 The United States is facing a COVID-19 surge this summer as the more contagious delta variant spreads. More than 649,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 while over 4.5 million people have died from the disease worldwide, according to real-time data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Just 62.3% of Americans ages 12 and up are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pediatric cases reach highest point of pandemic The U.S. reported 251,781 COVID-19 cases among kids during the week ending Sept. 2 -- the highest week of pediatric cases since the pandemic began, according to the weekly report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association. After declining in the early summer, new cases among kids are rising "exponentially," the organizations wrote, with the weekly figure now standing nearly 300 times higher than it was in June, when just 8,400 pediatric cases were reported over the span of one week. Last week children represented 26.8% of all reported COVID-19 cases. Regionally, the South had the highest number pediatric cases, accounting for approximately 140,000 of last week's cases. The rate of pediatric hospital admissions per 100,000 people is also at one of its highest points of the pandemic, up by 600% since the 4th of July, according to federal data. Severe illness due to COVID-19 remains "uncommon" among children, the two organizations wrote in the report. According to the nearly two dozen states which reported pediatric hospitalizations, 0.1%-1.9% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in hospitalization. Similarly, in states which reported virus-related deaths by age, 0.00%-0.03% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death. However, the AAP and CHA warned that there is an urgent need to collect more data on the long-term consequences of the pandemic on children, "including ways the virus may harm the long-term physical health of infected children, as well as its emotional and mental health effects." About 37.7% of children ages 12 to 15 and 46.4% of adolescents ages 16 to 17 have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

From the CDC directly: Since the start of the pandemic: 412 under 17 years old died of COVID, out of 643,858 (.000639) 924 died of garden variety pneumonia (more than double), and 188 from flu. Shriek harder, GWB.
Hang on, why can I see Tackleberry? He has me off ignore, we'll see about that Tsingy, you know that you pneumonia is not a pathogen itself? You get pnuemonia with an influenza or Covid-19 infection etc? It's when the air sacks in the lungs fill with puss. Well you do now.
First, learn to spell pneumonia. Second, explain your hypothesis to the CDC. Third, if you go back in time you'll see the pneumonia deaths were similar - even before COVID. Fourth, you can see my posts because annually, I take people off ignore to see if it is worthwhile to do so. Fifth, aren't you supposedly walking the beaches of France and not arguing about stuff? Answer the questions in whatever order you prefer.
Well spotted Tsingy! Corrected. Yeah, I remember the other couple of times you did, it won't last with me though will it? Autocorrect keyboards eh..? See the trouble that started in my thread about politics on ET being a waste of life? I'm not arguing about politics specifically here. Still OK about saving the world from dangerous ignorance of basic stuff. Now knowing what pneumonia is (much better! , fixed and tank you), how wound you adjust your response to GWB before?
I dunno...which last time, under which account name of yours, are we talking about? Autocorrect corrects to the wrong spelling? Twice? If that's how it works, then consider my ignorance on the subject corrected! Huh? Are you typing while wearing an oven mitt?
I had accidentally added the wrong spelling to the dictionary. Fixed. The last line on the prior message was a joke but remember, this is me on the phone. Anyway, GWB will be along to ask you the bit about pneumonia.
Fewer deaths than other some other common illnesses but we have teachers and unions and millions of fear filled morons like GWB demanding we hook healthy kids into temporary vaccines and boosters for life. And now think about how many of those kids had co morbidities. its probably 96% or higher have co morbidities just like adults. It is a truly a crazy world of unthinking morons... in which we live.
