You seem to enjoy visiting Russia quite a bit -- must be like home to you.

This is beyond stupid, even for you.

I worked there. My company had sent me over to fix a problem at a division, and I did. Part of the deal was getting to fly home a lot because living there was a challenge.

I wasn't "visiting Russia a lot because I enjoyed it".

Again, am I a Puerto Rico lover because I did the same back and forth to San Juan?

Well -- at least you cleared that up.

I am a "Russia lover". I love the language, I love St. Petersburg, which I consider the most beautiful city in the world (well, in the summer at least), I think Russian culture, both old and *some* new is amazing (Maryam Petrosyan's "The Gray House" is the best piece of literature I read in a LONG time) etc. etc.

On the other hand, I hate Russian regime(s) with a passion, and I hate Russian people's imperial ambitions, bigotry, the "Russian supremacy" ideology that seems to be in the blood, combined with, ironically enough, an enormous, all-encompassing, inferiority complex.

And, unfortunately, it will take a defeat on the order of Nazi Germany's in order to change things there. And probably not even that will help. Because Nazi Germany poisoned the country for one generation while Russia's disease is many, many generations old.

Somehow I doubt you'll ever be clear on anything.

I share a lot of the same sentiment. Especially the dislike of ST Pete in the winter. Ugh.

Its just a shame that you are unable to have any discussion that disagrees with you without falling back on attacking me because we don't agree on all points. As far as I know, I've never once been rude or provocative to you. I suppose I could understand if I had.

Well let me say I have never been to Russia. I had hoped to visit St. Petersburg via a cruise ship and see the Hermitage as well as other sites in the city (which I hear is beautiful). My visit (which was planned for the summer of 2023) is not likely to happen now. Unless Putin is removed from power and the relations between Russia and the West are effectively restored.

Let us know if you ever do, so we can make sure to send you the membership card for your Kremlin Lover chapter. Since visiting Russia means you love the Kremlin. Or something.

What kind of a discussion can we have when I say "GDP is projected to drop" and you interpret it as "GDP is going to increase"? Repeatedly?
