Russians, after all Western vehicle imports were stopped and the Russian car factories stopped production because of lack of imported parts, were hoping to get cars from China.

That hope is slowly disappearing. Today, Chinese car manufacturer Lifan said it stopped selling in Russia.

Russia's 'broken arrow': Fears that NUCLEAR MISSILES sank with Putin's flagship Moskva amid claims that 452 of the 510 crew have drowned and top admiral has been arrested after cruiser was 'hit by Ukrainian missile'
    • Moskva, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet, has been confirmed to have sunk near port of Sevastopol
    • Experts and analysts are now warning that the warship may have been carrying two nuclear warheads
    • They are calling for an urgent probe into 'broken arrow' incident - military slang for an accident with nukes
    • Meanwhile questions remain over the fate of Moskva's 510-strong crew, most of whom are unaccounted for
    • Ilya Ponomarev, a politician exiled from Russia, said as many as 452 members of the crew could have died
Ilya Ponomarev, a politician exiled from Russia for opposing Putin's 2014 annexation of Crimea, said just 58 of the 510-strong crew have since been accounted for - raising the prospect that 452 men went down with the ship in what would be a bitter loss for Vladimir Putin's already beleaguered army.

The figure, while unconfirmed, is consistent with losses suffered on exploding warships. During the Russian Navy's infamous defeat at the Battle of Tsushima against Japan, an explosion on board the Borodino - slightly smaller than the Moskva - saw all-but one of her 855 crew killed.

Russia claims all the Moskva's sailors were 'successfully evacuated' but video taken in Sevastopol overnight shows dozens of cars purportedly belonging to the sailors still parked in the port - suggesting their owners had not returned to collect them.

Around 8,000 cars destined for Russia blocked in Zeebrugge port
Since the implementation of sanctions against Russia, Belgian customs authorities have searched over 23,191 containers at Belgium’s ports to ensure compliance with international sanctions on Russia.

Three containers loaded with luxury goods bound for Russia have already been seized.

Belgian financial authorities have also blocked a staggering €197 billion in Russian financial transactions through Belgian banks as part of an effort to limit Russia from international financial markets.

    1. There were way more than 510 personnel on Moskva. 510 is the minimum, but since it was a flagship, all the HQ officers including the leaders of the Black Sea fleet were onboard. At least 100 more people.

    2. Even if nuclear munitions were sunk, there is not much danger. Obviously, detonation can't happen and nuclear weapons are fragile enough that even if they were not damaged, without constant maintenance they will deteriorate into complete uselessness soon enough.

You never know if the Ukrainians can still fish a nuclear missilie and use it. They are used to convert Russian scrap into deadly weapons. :D

Turkey confirmed that they took 54 soldiers out of the water. So clearly not everyone was evacuated from the cruiser.
So these 54 soldiers were not lucky, or maybe they are the only lucky... and the rest was not lucky.
The commander of the ship, Anton Koeprin, apparently is dead.

Russia didn't actually claim that "all" sailors were evacuated. The announcement can easily be interpreted that "remaining" sailors were evacuated. How many - your guess. Creative ambiguity. As the Russians joke (including this time, I saw it mentioned several times) - "among the survivors there are no losses".

Putin thought he was simply going to take over Ukraine's steel industry and make them work for Russia. It's not going to happen.

Ukraine's biggest steelmaker vows to never work under Russian occupation

    • Metinvest, Ukraine's leading steelmaker, vows that it will never work under Russian occupation.
    • The company is controlled by Rinat Akhmetov – the country's richest man.
    • It said in a statement seen by Reuters that a third of production capacity was out of action.
Ukraine's biggest steelmaker Metinvest vowed on Friday that it will never work under Russian occupation.

Reuters reported the news, citing a company statement, which was sent to the agency:

"We believe in the victory of Ukraine and plan to resume production after the end of hostilities. Metinvest's metallurgical enterprises will never operate under Russian occupation," the statement said.

Per Reuters, the company also said that more than a third of Ukraine's metallurgy production capacity was out of service due to the siege of Mariupol.

"The country has therefore lost 30-40% of its metallurgical production capacity since the plants are not working. We have no doubt that their work will be resumed, but for this Mariupol must remain Ukrainian," the statement added, according to Reuters.

Metinvest is Ukraine's leading steelmaker, according to data published by Statista in September 2021. The company is controlled by Rinat Akhmetov, the country's richest man, who has a net worth of $3.9 billion according to Forbes.

The company added that it had no way of gauging damages at present, due to the fighting taking place.

In a previous statement, which was released on their website Tuesday, the company said: "Assets in Avdiivka and Mariupol have reportedly sustained further damage from hostilities in the cities where they are located."

It added: "Until the active stage of the Russian military aggression is stopped and reliable communications channels with the plants are re-established, it is not possible to assess its impact on the Group's plants."

Metinvest did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment made outside of normal working hours.

A week before the war broke out, the company had planned to invest $1.2 billion in Ukraine in the modernization of its enterprises and sought to raise its workers' salaries from March 1.

In a previous report, Reuters said Metinvest produced about 40 million tonnes of iron ore a year and that Ukraine is among Europe's top suppliers.

Insider reported that Ukraine said between 2,500 to 3,000 of its troops have been killed, compared with Russia's 19,000.
