  1. Yep. She poo-pooed those military recruiting digital billboards there in Vladovostok, but those poor Siberian kids there are one of his recruiting meccas.

Vlad will not be pressing the LIKE button on her videos anytime soon.

If she were male and down in the Donbass and did that, they would just come by and conscript here. Sometimes being male is not all it is cracked up to be.

Just got a chance to read this morning's Bloomberg email newsletter - which had this:-

    China lockdown
The Chinese metropolis of Chengdu will lock down its 21 million residents to contain a Covid-19 outbreak, a seismic move in the country’s vast Western region that has largely been untouched by the virus. The capital of Sichuan province, Chengdu will be the biggest city to shut down since Shanghai’s bruising two-month lockdown earlier this year. Meanwhile, Russia is considering a plan to buy as much as $70 billion in yuan and other “friendly” currencies this year to slow the ruble’s surge. The yuan briefly extended gains against the dollar after the news.

    + + +

Wonder what "friendly" China thinks of Russian buying their currency while at the same time they are trying to get it to depreciate against other world benchmark currencies like the dollar and euro lol.

As well as the fact Russia (and bots) on the one hand bragging about their totaled rigged/controlled Ruble while trying to get it down, down, down too.

    Strange bedfellows.

    ..................

Lukoil, Russia's second biggest oil and gas company, made headlines in March when it called "for the soonest termination of the armed conflict" in Ukraine.
"We express our sincere empathy for all victims, who are affected by this tragedy," the company's board of directors said in a statement to shareholders, staff and customers at the time. "We strongly support a lasting ceasefire and a settlement of problems through serious negotiations and diplomacy."

Things you shouldn't do when Russian:
    • Smoke near ammo dumps

Do the economists in this thread believe this is a good idea? I know we've got some ace econ folks, and wondering what they think.

  10. Lada sales are up!!!! Nothing like lack of choice to help a consumer choose.

Also, I hear about sales in this article, but which year do you get delivery?

Lada sales rebound on Russian gov't support

AvtoVAZ's Lada sales rose 75 percent in August as a government program to subsidize new vehicles supports demand.
