The Day Trading Thread

  1. time to get back to trading everyone.

The crude oil bars have increase in range and causing me to use bigger stop loss than I been using. Today I notice I was taking about a -30 to -42 tick loss instead of my normal of -15 to -20 tick loss.

The average true range has increased alot.

What do you all do when market conditions change like this and bars ranges are bigger?

I normally use Buy and Sell Stops to enter trade with momentum.

I may have to go to limit orders and get in on trade with pull back or retrace to reduce risk. Maybe go down from 3 to 1 minute chart

crude oil day range could be rather huge.

I guess you were talking about yesterday crude oil movement.
yesterday movement was rather spiky jerky poky and this is quite typical of crude oil movement.
Using limit order could be the good thing to do.

widening stop loss might / might not be wise idea.
as mentioned, crude oil movement has been known to be rather jerky spiky.

average true range has not change alot.
so personally I wouldn't widen stop loss.

occassionally crude oil movement could be trendy and nicely arranged.

bottom line - no easy way out.
perhaps trade other more trendy commodities.

  5. It reminds me of those exhausting months at days/nights dealing with nonstop calls from indian accent callers representing everything from revenue agency, banks, free trips and etc.... At one time, it ruined sex because my cellphone kept ringing over and over again for >10 minutes. It forced me to change my cellphone # the next day which I had for over a decade. SO PEACEFULLY after that.....

Most cellphones have a function called "Off". Or at the very least, "Silent mode". You changed a phone number you had for over a decade because you refused to, or did not know how to, turn your phone off.

    No sympathy here, man. :-\

Bullshit. One doesn't call their cell company to have their number changed because they did not know the cellphone did not have "vibrate" mode, or "silent" mode, or just turn the thing OFF.

  9. You are just like pussy schweiz trying to find little negative things in order to pick up a fight. If you really do want to fight, then fight like a big man. I know you do trade in your real account. Why don't you fight with me through a trading challenge with a minimum prize of $10,000 usd and no less because I love to donate your money to charity. Let me know smart ass. Otherwise, I'm done responding to you because you can't see a big picture.

Consider tick charts, they're endlessly variable and yes in higher volatility I have to use more limit entries but there are other entries than bar takeout.
