The day to day psychology of a trader

Discussion in 'Psychology' started by smallStops, Feb 19, 2015.

  1. Even though it is good to have a strategy and then stick to it, many traders can't follow these strategies for very long unless they reflect their own trading style. When they have reached a breaking point, they just quit or find new strategies they can follow. This seems to be the psychology of a trader.

  2. No new psychological unhealthy behaviour to sort: the core was dealt with last year.
Trading going fine : the patience and the prudence are still there.

  3. Looks like prudence does pay..
Now, I have indeed been updating my thread a bit less. My apology.
I have quiet a lot of homework given by the coach : I'd never thought that coaches knew about first class "preachers" in many countries. So, I've been studying these "religious" videos - these are very deep and I do review some of these two even five times when the content enlightens me.

    Patience and prudence. :D :D :D

  4. All good traders are also good record keepers. If they win a trade, they want to know exactly why and how. More importantly, they want to know the same when they lose, so they don’t repeat unnecessary mistakes.

  5. What you are saying is true.

Now, I am finding out some brokers basically would loan a trader 5-10 times their capital!!!! The Fed system at broker level. Damn, plenty of money chasing good traders. I wonder what is the maximum capital they'd allow in this arrangement.

Patience and prudence as my behavioral target fixed by the coach.

  6. If there is such a thing as a secret to successful trading, this is it: At the very core of one’s ability 1) to trade without fear or overconfidence, 2) perceive what the market is offering from its perspective, 3) stay completely focused in the ‘now moment opportunity flow.

    smallStops and lawrence-lugar like this.
  7. :D :D :D

    Seriously, I can't help smiling.

No, I do not know of any "Tony". Never met one "Tony" and never got acquainted with any "Tony".
Now, if a certain "Tony" was after my passport for my locker : seriously, he should just have
presented himself, explained what he was wondering about and he'd have been informed that there
is nothing to see in the "locker". I only paid for it as I was too lazy to go and pick up the trading notes
that are of no use nowdays as we now trade differently.

    People are funny.

By the way, if "Tony" can return or get his people to return my passport asap, that would be very much appreciated as it takes time to renew a passport and this is delaying my travels. And say to "Tony"
that he should not jump to conclusions, and most importantly the dhamma (dot) org is really worth a try.

  8. Now got a dilemna.

Stay quiet (?) or go and socialize informally with all these friends of/colleagues of / "in training" dictators.
Some people assumed the biggest thiefs are to be found in banking ( where the money is); how wrong they are:
the biggest thiefs are to be found in politics, so much that even in Western countries people are now fighting for a political spot as they understand how third world countries do.

I really don't have the courage to show up.
After all I am a bit ill: not slept well, not eaten well either. And also my head is hurting
    about all the stress.

  10. The coaching is still going : I am quiet amazed at all the methods out there. So, now, we are into learning a bit about the LOA. There is a huge difference between the vulgarization of the concepts, and what some specialists understand of it. For the trading, this is very useful, as the trading is stable, and steady. A LOT of patience, and no yoyo trading. This sorted, few more months to track, then I am back into my 'philantropic' projects. The good thing is I have learned new stuff, so I will be able to restart these with better approaches.

Might as well, keep all in the same place - here.

Obviously, it makes fully sense why the coach approach this concept so late in the coaching.
If this LOA is not well used, it can kind of "revert" to what one does not want. Just shows that
even "spiritual/psychological" stuff have things to be careful with.
For those interested : do not get into Law of Attraction , if you have some "karma" or some "God has not yet forgiven you" things to sort out. LOA is deep into spirituality. Just now, I am just studying it,
as I have now started to understand 'spirits' 'triple return' 'boomrang' 'equilibrium' principles, I just studying it as the coach asked, and I will only look to apply it well after I understand the "spiritual" aspects of it. Not before.
