    That is nothing to do with fractional reserve banking as you imply. It is to do with Quantitative Easing which was done back in medieval times under the name of seniorage.

    Socialism/communism works well with a small number of connected people, for instance a family or a group of friends. You don't want to be competing in some free market way with your wife or son or mum!

    So i suppose it could work in a small tribal village with v few people.

    Apart from those examples, it's a total disaster and should be avoided.
