    Then we're screwed. The entire world must now shelter-in-place like there's a madman sniper on the roof, because this bug is like no other, will never be able to be conquered, has a great chance of re-infecting the carrier (It's called a relapse), and that's it. To save the children who are our future, our existence is now isolated to home with no exposure to the outside world for the rest of our natural lives.

    It's for the children.

    Anti-vaxxers should be taking note, by the way. This is what they have all dreamt for. This is their gateway to salvation.

    I know a prepper who's in heaven at the moment. Although it was tough for him for the first weeks because he's also a big Trump supporter and Trump was saying there was no crisis, all a big fake news second impeachment attempt. So very conflicted then. Now he's just all around happy, 20 years of crazy all vindicated!

    Is a prepper the same as an anti-vaxxer?

    No, just another group who's in heaven because they see their otherwise warped worldview as being validated. These are the guys who've been preparing for a post-apocalyptic world their whole lives with bunkers of food, weapons, and gold in their basements.

    It shouldn't be the end of the world if businesses shut for 2 weeks or even 2 months. Especially when all your competition has shutdown too.
    Most people have stopped saving, it is considered being old fashioned.
    It looks like people and businesses are going to have to learn the hard way that they need to have savings and cash reserves.

    As traders we experience such lessons on a regular basis.

    if the cure is worse than corona; but
    malaria is worse than the cure because it is a legit drug for malaria;
    therefore malaria must be worse than corona;

    if there wasn't any market panic for malaria then the corona panic must be bogus.

    there are no holes in this logic.

    Do you not get it? The problem is the impact coronavirus will have on our health services if we don't get it under control. The market down move has only just begun.

    Yeah, let's use Italy as our N=1 and ignore much more promising containment in S. Korea, Japan, Germany, Singapore, etc. Italy messed up and is an anomaly (along with a few other countries to a lesser degree), but they're hardly the mean or median right now. Some people are way too influenced by confirmation bias and media hype.

    Yeah, as if none of this was priced into a 30% drop. In fact, much of it was, and if things get better (especially as temps increase in the N. Hemisphere), we may see what an overreaction we've had.
