The cure is worse than the disease

  1. Gee - if we could only go back in time and shut down the global economy for:
    SARS
    Bird Flu
    Zika
    Ebola
    H1N1
    etc.

Maybe we could all be living off insects now and wiping with moss while never being within 6 feet of anyone.
    Paranoid much?

And - okay - I'll ignore a credentialed expert and listen to you. That's what you're saying?

    You're funny.
You're the one telling the world it's stupid to be precautionary.
It's better to err on the side of cautiousness.

WE HAVE ENOUGH HOSPITAL BEDS FOR OTHER FLUS !

  3. ET is not known for nuance, but this thread shows a very important trend in public perspective. Basically, at the moment there is a very strong perception among the population that we are sacrificing the future of the younger generations for the boomers. Saving boomers and, given the economic rescue packages, saving their institutions.

Combine that with the fact that boomers were already the beneficiaries of a huge post-WII expansion at the cost of the younger generations and you have a massive social conflict brewing up. It’s possible for us to have a massive social unrest, though unlikely. More probable is that the younger generations will stop cooperating in terms of economic game and then we are all screwed.

Never seen headlines like these for other flus.
Never heard about doctors getting doctored for other flus.

Do you realize we don’t have vaccines ?
And that there are cases of reinfections ?

Other world health organizations and virologists explained the difference between Flu versus Covid-19 along with the global reaction that's different.

    Its simple...very simple...

There's a vaccine for the flu and its globally available including for its newly mutated versions that show up.

In contrast, there's currently NONE (no vaccine) for Covid-19 and that makes the fear easily exploitable.

Another key difference...even though the flu has greater illness and deaths...most hospitals are suited to manage flu illness whereas they are currently still learning about the Covid-19 and need to treat it differently than the flu especially if it mutates into a more dangerous version of itself as the bacteria fights to survive (its alive too).

This learning phase is no different than any prior pandemics...usually takes about 1 - 2 years and it takes about the same for it to show up in the education material in medical schools although current health professionals are @ ground zero and learning as they go.

As I stated in an earlier message post, things will dramatically change when a vaccine is discover and then globally distributed. Thus, treatment for the Covid-19 will be no different than people going to the clinic to get their annual flu shot.

Lol this is beyond precautioary this is madness, ending civilisation because if a flue.

Trump and Boris both trying to not do this, but scared PCs forcing them into it, so the media can get advert revenue.

When this is all over and the damage is totalled up by the PCs can we finally herd thrm up and kill them all.

Very interesting perspective about this. Thanks.

Does "stop cooperating" merit rolling in tanks and arming the National Guard to control them via martial law ?

A repeat of Kent State but for different reasons ?

Obviously I'm being a little sarcastic but I actually did think of such as a possibility in China or even Hong Kong after their recent political unrests.
