can someone fill me in on the crusades ? i happen to be listening to limbaugh today and i think he said that muslims started the crusades. i thought the christians did---- can someone point me in the right direction to find the facts ?? thanks, surfer
Well, I've read a lot on the crusades and I've never ever heard that before. Maybe it's similar to how Israel is supposed to have "started" the Six Day War. (They did fire the first shots, only because it was crystal clear the arabs were going to attack them.) Maybe he is taking the fact that the Islamic empire in the centuries after Mohammed was so militarily expansionist and had taken over the Holy Land by force and using that to mean "started" it, even though those events took place a long time before the first crusade.
