Surprise, Surprise: The DOJ’s Hillary Clinton Investigation Has Been a Bust
    ALISON DURKEE
    JANUARY 9, 2020 9:45 PM

Back in 2017, buoyed by President Donald Trump’s calls for investigations into “Crooked Hillary & the Dems,” the Justice Department launched an inquiry into Hillary Clinton and Republicans' pet conspiracy theories about her and her career. Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions asked U.S. Attorney John Huber to look into concerns that the FBI hadn't fully pursued cases related to the Clinton Foundation, as well as Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, including the baseless “Uranium One” conspiracy theory championed by conservatives. Now, Huber is finally almost finished with his much-vaunted Clinton investigation—and, unsurprisingly, there isn't really anything to show for it.
Come on, writing and implying a conclusion can be made with a still ongoing investigation sounds like someone wants to try to clear a cloud of uncertainty before a consequential election.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that after continuing on for more than two years, Huber's investigation “has effectively ended with no tangible results.” After combing through documents and conferring with federal law enforcement officials looking into the Clinton Foundation in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Post reports that Huber has “found nothing worth pursuing,” let alone any criminal charges. The U.S. attorney has not yet officially reported any results to the Justice Department, however, and the inquiry is technically still ongoing. But officials cited by the Post say that Huber's years-long investigation has by this point “largely finished”—and with nothing to show for it.
One does not normally recommend charges before an investigation is complete, do they? I’m not talking about Trump or Republicans, of course.

Despite Republicans' long insistence on Clinton's wrongdoing—and Trump's favorite “lock her up” rallying cry—the fact that the Huber investigation has reportedly been a bust doesn't seem to come as much surprise to those inside the Justice Department itself. Senior Justice officials cited by the Post said that the investigation had largely been viewed as little more than a way to appease Trump and his Republican allies, and officials expected the inquiry was “unlikely to lead to anything of significance.” “We didn’t expect much of it, and neither did [Huber],” one source told the Post. “And as time went on, a lot of people just forgot about it.”
Is there anyone out there that will admit these statements do not indicate justice department bias?

The news of the DOJ's fruitless investigation comes just a few months after the State Department completed its own investigation into Clinton's emails and use of a private server, which found that while 38 individuals did commit 91 security violations in emails sent to or from the private server, ultimately the server largely wasn't used for transmitting classified information. “While there were some instances of classified information being inappropriately introduced into an unclassified system in furtherance of expedience, by and large, the individuals interviewed were aware of security policies and did their best to implement them in their operations,” a report on the investigation said. “There was no persuasive evidence of systemic, deliberate mishandling of classified information.” Of course, Clinton being cleared of wrongdoing by Trump's own executive branch isn't about to stop the president from bashing Hillary nonetheless. (Never mind the fact that six of Trump's own associates have been convicted of crimes, or that private email use has reportedly been rampant throughout the Trump administration.) Less than an hour after the Post report came out, Trump was back on the campaign trail attacking Hillary, repeating his favorite 2016 talking points to a crowd of supporters—Clinton's innocence be damned. “Crooked Hillary—you should lock her up, I'll tell you,” Trump told supporters.
Oops, I stand corrected. The investigation into Clinton turned up “38 committing 91 security violations...”. Anything about using a private server seem out of the ordinary to anyone? How about missing emails? 30,000 or so? More significantly, what about fact fact that emails are stored on more than one server as they get transmitted?

The truth and emails are, or were out there. Removing all traces would probably require intelligence agency intervention or at least cooperation between telcos and or tech companies. Unless, of course Russian hackers felt sorry for Mrs. Clinton. But If so, that would kind of punch holes in the narrative that Russians help Trump, wouldn’t it?

Tony, you seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel for propaganda pieces. It’s ok, I’ll do the dirty work for you: Alison Durkee, you’re fired!

2 years of a Trump DOJ investigation against Hillary and not one indictment.Maybe Barr,Horowitz and Durham should drop all other matters and handle Hillary's case exclusively.

  4. Barr, I suspect based on his prior association with Bush, is probably there to try to reign in Trump and protect the Swampsters on both sides of the Aisle.

As a reminder, the article pointed out there were 38 participants, presumably all Democrats close to Hillary, broke the law 91 times. The investigation is ongoing presumably to either bolster the DOJ’s case, develop other charges, or delay referring for prosecution to avoid potential political impact on the upcoming elections. In 2016, were there not complaints by Hillary concerning the FBI in that regard? After 2016, where there not “Timed leaks” by the FBI apparently designed to damage Republicans political chances in 2018? Perhaps with the prime leakers now out of the FBI, we are beginning to see a more politically neutral and professional approach taken by law enforcement and the Judiciary.

All in all, there seems to be a wide range of possibilities happening here, but a more appropriate headline might read: 38 Democrats including Hillary Clinton, found in violation of 91 crimes.

nope, just because you add "crime" to a violation, it doesn't magically make it so. It's why Chuck went on his witch hunt, to appease the unwashed, and came back with nothing.

In the end, State Department investigators found 38 current or former employees “culpable” of violating security procedures — none involving material that had been marked classified — in a review of roughly 33,000 emails that had been sent to or from the personal computer system Clinton used.

But hey, they can try to "retroactively" classify the information to score more political points:

  6. Who deletes 33,000 emails from a “Illegal”, oops, sorry, “Rule breaking private server” when it is “Only” a rules violation? It is not like Hillary Clinton, a lawyer herself, did not have access to a friendly DOJ or top legal representation. It appears by Hillary’s actions, she displayed a “consciousness of guilt”. The private server itself could be interpreted as “Consciousness of premeditation”.

Personally, unless there are conspiracy related activities that significantly harms US interests or the electoral process, I would be happy to see Hillary get a slap on the wrist. All I ask for is equal justice for all, regardless of political affiliation. This includes false or weak accusations and attempts to change the status quo in regards to what is legally substantive or not.

or maybe, Hillary being a savvy strategist & saw the need to do so as it would be political fodder to have those emails out there. For reference see how Trump's admin "reclassified" communications ex post facto & cheered the Russians to hack their opponents.

  9. Please say it isn’t so. “Dirty deeds done dirt cheap” on both sides?

Still, Trump’s policies seem more America friendly than the current breed of Democrats.
