the bottom line on NYSE quote games

  1. is, it seems to me, to completely derail 'default to bid'/'default to offer' order entry, and NX. You default to the posted price (with or without your own cushion) but you never know what the market really is.

    is this not the case?

  2. I don't know about your order entry but for me this has totally messed up my readings on stocks. Most of the time I can now no longer predict where and when the next prints will come. I have noticed on more liquid stocks that they just hit size prints outside the spread on both sides giving me almost zero indication of direction. Once these out of the money prints occur it seems to be too late to get in on anything. It is like the whole move just occured in front of your face without the inside quote changing at all. Good times.
