Dems have won the popular vote in 7 of the last 9 elections. They are faceing a president with the lowest approval ratings ever and one of the most hated presidents ever who got 3 million fewer votes in 2016 and 10 million fewer votes in 2018.Only 1 of 5 Presidents who lost the popular vote got a second term and Bush only lost by 500k not millions like Trump and Bush had higher approval ratings than Trump.

Republicans claimed Obama was a socialist and the left voted for him...twice

  4. Absolutely not. You are dilusional if you think so. Republicans would be more united than ever. At least half of those who don't identify as Republicans would not vote for him. He would never be elected already based on simple arithmetic.

Republicans were united in 2016 and Trump still got fewer votes than Obama in 2008,Obama in 2012 and Hillary in 2016.

Republicans were united in 2010 and democrats got 10 million more votes than republicans and nearly matched Trumps 2016 vote total, which has never happened in this country's history prior to Trump.

Just running with a (D) after your name would have gotten a candidate more votes in 7 of the last 9 elections. In 2020 it will democrats who are are united and the results of that is 2008 and 2018 type numbers.

  6. It’s tough for Democrats when their candidate loses an election. Even tougher when their candidate wins. In the long run.

  7. In 2016 the vote was not for someone who espouses socialism. It was decided early on in the primaries that Hillary Clinton was running not Bernie. And as far as I remember, presidential elections are decided by the electoral vote NOT by the populist vote. Hence your popular vote outcome is irrelevant unless the procedure is changed in the constitution.

And this is not like the past. There is a huge rift and political divide in this country. But what unites a huge majority of Americans is that they do not want socialism, even if that means more Trump or more dead at the border or more vitriol from the White House. Most Americans also do not want a pure public health care system but want a mix of public and private insurance choices. Hardly anyone who is earning income and is working whether self-employed or derives a salary from work for someone else will vote for someone who espouses socialism.

If you want to respond I would ask you to respond to the actual points, made.

Trump only won The EC by 78,000 votes.I wouldn't be too confident that The EC is a lock in 2020 especially since democrat turnout has been much higher in elections since Trump took office.

Republicans have been playing the socialism card since 2008.Dems have won The popular vote 3 times and the EC 2 out of 3 times since.Trump got lucky by 78,000 votes but its a losing strategy when dems have high voter turnout which they will have in 2020.
