The Bible Is an Outdated Relic

I've heard people reject Scripture for the above reason. But in my experience, the Bible is, as has been quoted by many, God's divine road map for us, pointing us along the optimum and (sometimes) safest routes, (often, but not always) leading us along scenic byways, showing us obstacles to avoid (or overcome), and warning us against wrong turns, detours, dead ends and dangers along the way.

(Words in parentheses added by me.)

It is as relevant today as it has ever been, His big instruction book (Owner's manual) providing the guidance we need to make life work. So, when I hear a sermon that strikes a certain chord in me, I'd like to be able to return to it again and again, and at some point, even summarize its essence in writing in order to commit it to my spirit, or to share with others for whom I'm given the responsibility of imparting spiritual knowledge or wisdom.

I therefore hope to embed such sermons here, and begin synthesizing their messages as I have opportunity, starting with this one from Pastor Mark Driscoll. (The sermon starts about ten minutes into the video.)

Wait until your mind expands to the point to know that God and the idea of God is ephemeral and the idea of man. Yer gonna' shit your pants and spend another 20 years or so trying to expand your mind even further into the universe to try to understand your place in it. Yer on a fun journey of fuckitism.

You will realize that it is the simplest things that we must consume to make us feel satified in this existence, like Jazzy's summertime song. Fun, light and airy.

It is a sign of the times. Similarly there are people who consider the US Constitution to be a relic and should be discarded. The Constitution can be used successfully to handle every situation that arises even though it was written over 200 years ago.

I have no idea who Boebert is. If you're referring to Lauren Boebert (the name that popped up when I Googled it as a keyword) I know nothing about it.

She has invoked religious right (Christian fundamentalism) in her political stances and rhetoric. Now her 17yo son got a 15yo pregnant and she’s backtracking on all that because Christianity is going to condemn them to hell.

It's my understanding the when systems work extremely well, it frees people up to engage in mischief because they are not busy just struggling to survive. The interesting thing is, they propose to replace the working system with ones that have proven to be utter failures.

Why would you want to replace the Constitution with a socialist system when every socialist system has been an utter disaster, or at best, lowered the population's overall standard of living? To avoid name calling, I will just say that promoting socialism makes people look blind and naïve. Communists seem especially averse to religion, and look at the kinds of leaders that has produced: Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, Pol Pot, Mengistu Haile Mariam, Kim Il Sung, etc.

A lot of people claim that Hitler was a Christian. Others say he was atheist. Then again, Warfare History Network states that "Adolf Hitler was a pantheist who believed nature was the only true God." I have no idea who is right, but in any event, no "true" Christian could do what Hitler did.

It is a sign of the times indeed. As the Apostle Paul wrote: "...their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools..."

(Paul did the name calling... not me.)

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20.)

    Matthew 6:5
"...do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men."
