Hi have question regarding latency. My account is on IBKR hdc1.ibllc.com server. My VPS was by beeks they have server on Equinix DC HK1 and IBKR server are in Equinix DC HK3 ping time was 3ms. For about 2 weeks has changed my ping from 3ms to 35ms-36ms i ask support and they send mi their ping which was 3ms but from my VPS was still 35-36ms. Now have changed VPS provider and find 1 that have server direct in Equinix DC HK3 as IBKR when i ping IBKR server have latency 35-36ms which was the same as i have from beeks Equinix HK1. How is this possible I do not understand that. Can someone explain me this.
what are the products that you are trading? If you trade mainly us centric stuff, you will be better off with IB server in US and VPS in US.
Have contacted my cloud provider they have contacted Equinix. This was the answer from Equinix (Based on your information, we has checked that our traffic routing towards 103.38.91.3 is using best and shortest path. In this case, it seem like your customer another server ISP is not using the shortest to our network. We would suggest your customer to pass this mtr result picture to another server ISP for improvement). They think that the problem is on IBKR side?I'd like to know what @def thinks about this. When I returned home last night have done another test ping with MTR and ping was better now about 4ms.
I get the impression that they are not blaming the problem on IBKR side, but on the connection between your internet provider and cloud provider?
Equinix meant IB since my cloud provider wanted from me to contact IB with this situation or their ISP how they route it. The same happend in march this year by Beeks was in Equinix HK1 the ping was about 36ms to Equinix HK3 to IB server i send request to beeks which ty told the same blabla the dont see the problem and during weekend was everything OK was back to 3ms now the same happend second week september 2018 by beeks ping was 36ms and when i asked beeks they told everything is ok they send me their ping which was 3ms but i have on my VPS still 36ms. Now i am on Equinix HK3by other cloud provider and has to yesterday same ping 36ms to IB server which is in Equinix HK3.Look the same problem with ping in Equinix HK1 and HK3 to IB server.Have pinged now 1 server in Equinix HK1 and have better ping to this server (1ms) as to IB server which is in the same DC as me and have (4ms).
I spoke with IT specialist from us i give him every info what i have. his expression Anyway, this looks at the AT&T issue in HKIX, because the latency has grown most of the way through given hop, and the subsequent hopes have been with increased latency. Sometimes it is obvious from a given hope that high latency is the setting of the given router who is doing peering (it is only a matter of ICMP being served by the main CPU and not ASICs), but on the next hop is the latency OK. Imho has nothing to do with VPS. The problem might have been either the last equinex hope in the HKIX or ATT hope line in HKIX, and it is also dependent on the router being physically in HKIX and peer-to-peer. Imho pure network problem, because when you look at the latency of 3 last hopes so constantly 34 / 35ms If there was a problem on the IB side, it would seem that the increase in latency was right there ... and now, with 4ms latency. Otherwise, it does not make sense if traffic goes to HKIX. Because every DC wants to keep DC traffic in DC ... do not let him out to keep the capacity for the data going out of DC or DC. And so I hope that the problem wil not appear ... oftentimes someone makes a mistake but does not want to admit and that's how they got lost until it is solved so miraculously.
Open question, what would you choose between these two VPS? Commericalnetworkservices or www.speedytradingservers.com ?
