I'm pretty sure EqtTrdr was joking here, folks. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=10172
Proflogic was really making that kinda bank? Guy had a heck of a system. Cabletrader was one i remember. Nukethwhales was another
I don't remember T. Sykes user name here at ET. I'm sure you can use ET search menu to find it on your own. Yet, he has a twitter account @ https://twitter.com/timothysykes if you're looking for more information. By the way, I like his goal of trying to teach a trading skill to individual traders so that they can be self-sufficient @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQZbqOnZ_Bo#at=252 Just to let you know there's lots of edges or skills out there for traders. You just gotta be open minded, hungry enough and just go do it. Also, if you're looking for other top traders that are not ET members or former ET members that got ran out of ET by the usual trolls...just pay close attention to some of those CNBC and Bloomberg interviews and you'll hear traders mention the names of profitable traders that they pay attention too. You'll quickly learn that these individual traders have excellent trader network and collaboration that I believe is a crucial element of their trading plan. I'm not going to mention any more specific names (e.g. Paul Rotter, T. Sykes in contrast of each other) but I've done my research and have about 27 names on my own personal list of individual traders that are millionaires (most are not ET members). Don't believe the misinformation out there. There are successful individual traders out there.
Yes, WRB is correct--- There are successful individuals out there but if you read what he says they all have networks --- information comes from networks-- I believe this informational arbitrage is how most succeed. If they are not directly prop or institutionally trained, which the majority are, their networks are connected to these sources--- success isn't from studying price movements that's for certain. WRB--- do you believe in lone wolf, individual success in the markets? surf
just to clarify some more "subtly suggested" misinformation. Yes, Tim Sykes has made a few million from trading a unique niche that he popularized--- however, he freely admits the majority of his wealth comes from marketing, teaching and seminar type activities. I wonder how many more of these "great" traders actually make much more in other activities? this is an important fact to keep in mind. surf
