Yeah, "facts" from your perspective, which frequently are made up entirely of your interpretations - not actual facts. Regardless, you may mentally masturbate differently, but you sure do it as much - if not more.
But that is just opinion, just as there is lots of my opinion on my end. You have to learn to disambiguate when someone is stating facts, like crime statistics, and the interpretation of those fact. I currently hold the belief that more guns doesn't make us safe. That is opinion. The rest is posts about repeated atrocities committed by people using guns.
See above. Learn to disambiguate when someone is stating a fact, and when someone is imposing his belief system on those facts.
Yes, there's nothing not factual about the atrocities by people using guns, just in the conclusions you draw or infer from the occurrences.
Thanks, but I do just fine on that. You let me know when you posts some facts, and I'll give you my opinion on whether they're truly facts and then we can see how well I do.
Well life is not math. Sadly, many conclusions can be drawn from the same facts by different people because facts are mostly statistical. That is why it doesn't upset me (although I do get flabbergasted) when people don't believe in HFGW in-spite of all the statistical scientific evidence, or that we have almost zero accountability when it comes to the gun industry. We take more into account toy gun makers than we do real gun makers. I am just one man and I cannot change societies laws. I do see that right wing people on ET tend to take almost polar opposite views that I do which doesn't bother me one way or another. But it does give me a statistical point that gives me comfort - the extreme GOP views are dying out, and over time the arguments of progress will win out. You can fool all of the people some of the time, or some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time. With the internet and the free exchange of ideas, what took 100 years to change may take a decade, and I feel great about next decade on gun laws, HFGW, Jesus invading the US political system like a cancer virus, etc etc. Justice is a process.
I don't even understand the last sentence there. As for HFGW, that's a different subject than gun control, so I'm not going to get into it. The problem with the gun thread is that you are trying to push a viewpoint in your collection of stories. You don't post anything pro-gun, because you don't believe in the position. This is fine. But when you pretend you don't have an agenda, and all you're doing is presenting facts, you're being disingenuous. And we're not going to fall for it. I'm certainly not. This is where you go off the tracks. You believe that your view is factually correct on a broad range of issues, and therefore the opposite viewpoint is trying to "fool people". The reality is that your opinion on a broad range of subjects is not factual. This means you aren't necessarily right, and the opposing view isn't necessarily wrong. Hence, your statement on fooling folks not working forever is invalid. Now we're talking hope, not facts. Hope is just another version of opinions, and you're entitled to hope as strongly as you'd like. But it doesn't make you right. Again.
See the link on the original post re: toy gun makers vs real for clarification. The rest of your post, sure I understand what you are saying that I frame my argument and rarely post opposing views (If I could find them I would). If you feel differently than the gun thread, start your own thread and call it I WANT MORE GUNS AND WE ARE BETTER FOR IT!
That link wasn't there when I posted. But here's an example of what I was talking about in the article you quoted: cities and states started to bring lawsuits against gunmakers that pursued new legal paths, such as one that argued manufacturers Glock Inc. and China North Industries had oversaturated the market, producing so many guns that it was inevitable some would fall into criminal hands. This isn't a factual statement at all. Producing so many guns that it was inevitable some would fall into criminal hands? What kind of stupidity is that? Gun producers aren't backing up dump trucks and dumping piles of guns in the town square. There is a demand for them, and they're producing them. If they can be legally sold, to legal owners who have undergone a background check, then it's simple supply and demand. What lunacy. You are welcome to frame your argument and post whatever agenda you like. My issue is when you call this an exercise in truth, when it's simple yellow journalism. Sure, there are some facts in your articles, but taken together, they imply an agenda you're pushing - with leaps of logic that don't translate to rational conclusions. The above text from your article is a perfect example. The amount of guns producers make is not directly correlated with the amount of guns that fall into criminal hands. As for my own thread, I've had one that is much older than yours. All anti-gun folks who were in it could never provide debate and fled the thread long ago. So now when I see nonsense in yours, I show up to set the record straight. IF you ever want to really debate the subject, and not just push an agenda, I'm open.
