Clinton might win this time around, but what she represents is in the rear-view mirror. Centrist Corporate Democrats are dunzo. Too bad the Bern is not 54 instead of 74.

Who will pick up the torch?

Hillary Clinton has a big problem

"Even though it's inevitable that Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination for president, she still has a big problem: The party's future already seems to have passed her by. It's clear Bernie Sanders and his more progressive wing of liberalism is the present and future of the Democratic Party, and that's even more obvious when you look at how Sanders dominates the polls among younger voters.

Like Donald Trump, Clinton needs to use her running-mate selection process to heal growing wounds within her party. To do that, she will first have to recognize what her real problem is with the party's new base. And that problem is that Sanders and his supporters in the party are mostly angry at what they see as a rigged process by the party elites and the Clinton camp. It's not just the fact that Hillary made so much money from speeches to Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street firms, it's the secretive nature and cronyism that appears to be at play throughout her career.

I'm about as far from a Hillary supporter as it gets, but I have some good advice for her and her campaign: Let the people decide..."

Since her ultimate goal is to win the Presidency at any cost, she couldn't give a rat's ass what you guys think her ultimate problem is.

Looks like Sanders is about out of runway as one pundit put it last weekend. Too bad, he was speaking to some important issues that transcend demographic lines.

Here is one point where the Bern may have it wrong. These jobs cannot be outsourced to Mexico nor China, nor can they be TPPd etc!

Uber Is Not the Future of Work
    NOVEMBER 18, 2015
    | BY LAWRENCE MISHEL

"The rise of Uber has convinced many pundits, economists, and policymakers that freelancing via digital platforms is becoming increasingly important to Americans’ livelihood. It has also promoted the idea that new technology—particularly the explosion of platforms enabling the gig economy—will fundamentally alter the future of work.

While Uber and other new companies in the gig economy receive a lot of attention, a look at Uber’s own data about its drivers’ schedules and pay reveals them to be much less consequential than most people assume. In fact, dwelling on these companies too much distracts from the central features of work in America that should be prominent in the public discussion: a disappointingly low minimum wage, lax overtime rules, weak collective-bargaining rights, and excessive unemployment, to name a few. When it comes to the future of work, these are the aspects of the labor market that deserve the most attention..."

  5. You can't outsource the maids, butlers, doorman, waitresses and dishwashers either.
A service economy is a failed economy. Millions of jobs have been and will continue to be lost. Those millions had jobs where they actually made something. I guess they can all drive each other to the unemployment office, then clean each others toilets. Or maybe we'll all just peck away on a keyboard while we pretend to be accomplishing something of value.
We, this nation called the United States of America, are in a downward spiral. The powers that be, perpetrators and facilitators of the spiral, are offering any number of distractions while they try find a safe place to land. They being the operative word. You, me, we the people...we're going down with the ship, and there aren't many lifeboats.

I am curious, by your thinking, are teachers/educators a service? What about tutors?

  8. See this is totally wrong. The important issue is the loss of high paying factory jobs to china and elsewhere. The things Sanders wants to do would hasten the loss of jobs.

The other thing sanders and clinton agree on that is terrible for workers, particularly low wage workers, is untrammeled immigration. They have no credibility when they are all in for amnesty and open borders.

  9. Yes, they are, and they only have value if the people they're teaching can actually go out into the world and make a decent living using what they've learned from a general education. Otherwise, what are we going to do? Teach everyone to be a teacher?

Canada's problem in a nutshell. No jobs so everyone goes into teaching. Now all the baby boomers are double dipping and not retiring so no jobs for new teachers either. Let's all teach !! Each other how to be authoritative and lecture ppl all day long because that's what produces jobs and value and tangible solutions. The fuckkng teachers
