The Bern Identity

  1. ^"Imo, this is at the heart of modern political philosophy in this country. What does it mean to be a Democrat. What does it mean to be a Republican. What can it mean? Are we forever in the straight-jacket of these labels"?

Labels is what politics is all about. Politicians live and die by labels. Political parties need labels to exist. No labels = no division of people. Can't have that. We might actually figure out who and what real problem is.

GE CEO calls out Bernie, says he’s wrong

"General Electric's Jeff Immelt fired back at Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for saying GE was among companies "destroying the moral fabric" of America.

"GE has been in business for 124 years, and we've never been a big hit with socialists. We create wealth and jobs, instead of just calling for them in speeches," Immelt, the company's chairman and CEO, said in an op-ed on The Washington Post this week.

Sanders made his comments on Friday to the New York Daily Newseditorial board.

Said Immelt: "Our employees are proud of our company. I meet second- and third-generation employees whenever I travel across the country. I am one myself. Our suppliers and partners are proud of our company. Our communities are proud of our company. Our pride, history and hard work are real — the moral fabric of America."

The Vermont senator's campaign did not immediately respond to a CNBC request for comment on Thursday."

So, the Democratic Socialist is a better business person free to do the right thing, than the Corporate Democrat who is owned and a lap dog.

Bernie Sanders, business genius? Yes, actually

"Could Bernie Sanders, a self-described "democratic socialist" and Wall Street's biggest critic, be an entrepreneurial genius?

A closer look at the ideas and methods propelling the 'Feel the Bern' phenomenon, and interviews with entrepreneurial experts, show that the Sanders campaign has displayed plenty of business smarts tailored to today's market. His renewed momentum after a win this week in Wisconsin — making it 7 out of the last 8 contests for the Vermont senator — has been built on age-old entrepreneurial tricks and business trends that Sanders has turned into a large, vocal and "profitable" slice of the U.S. electorate.

To start — and to cover quickly what should by now be obvious — while Hillary Clinton and Republican candidates receive "handouts" from corporations and billionaire donors, Sanders has managed his campaign like an entrepreneurial start-up, funding it from the ground up.

After rejecting all super PAC support and special-interest money, Sanders focused heavily on small money donations. President Obama's original run for the Oval Office set this trend, but Sanders recently broke fundraising records with more than 6 million individual contributions, almost tripling the record set by Obama in 2011..."

I'll say one thing for Bernie, he is giving the Republicans lots and lots of good material to run against Hillary in the general.
Case in point is the soundbite from this video about Hillary taking money from dictators. Oh, and that bit about her not being qualified to be president.

    Priceless :)

Well lots of Democrats don't think Hilary is fit to be president. For example

I have even heard the reverse be said.

Bernie Sanders says 'of course' Hillary Clinton is qualified to be president, seeks return to ‘real issues’

"NEW YORK — Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders struck a more conciliatory tone Friday toward his rival Hillary Clinton, saying that “of course” she is qualified to be president and adding that he is eager to return to a discussion of “real issues.”

Sanders’s assessment came two days after a speech in which he ticked off ways in which he said Clinton is unqualified for the presidency, including her acceptance of special interest money, her support of free trade deals and her support of the Iraq war.

During an appearance at a “town hall” meeting broadcast live on NBC’s “Today” show on Friday, Sanders said, as he has repeatedly since Wednesday, that his comments were prompted by attacks from Clinton’s campaign following his win this week in the Wisconsin primary.

The senator from Vermont was asked by co-anchor Savannah Guthrie if he had overreacted to comments by Clinton earlier Wednesday suggesting he was unprepared for the presidency..."
