The benefits of the 2nd amendment!

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Tony Stark, Sep 7, 2022.

  1. My point was related to loss of gun rights can effect minorities who live in high crime areas who desire the protection or feeling of security that a gun may provide more than someone, minority or not, who lives in a low crime area.

I prefer to distinguish between Conservatives and Republicans myself. For example, Conservative Democrats.

  3. 1. Do you feel you are better qualified to determine the conditions someone should live, what rights they are allowed to retain than the people who are living their own situation?

    2. Do you believe that any product or item that causes deaths in excess of a certain number should automatically be banned or severely restricted from use by the general population?

    3. As for number 2, you are likely smart enough to say no. When it comes down to it, why the difference between common products or items that kill thousands, some of which cause profound damage to society without any clear benefits, and guns as far as restricting ownership and reasonable use?

How are the arguments between 2nd amendment rights fundamentally different than reproductive rights? As a quick overview, the vast majority of abortions are based upon the irresponsible behavior of two parties, just like most STD infections. Abortions kill an entity that most likely would have survived birth. Liberals expect society to pay for their abortions without qualifications. However, abortions are justified in the case of rape, incest, and risk to mother’s life. In other words, abortions can represent either irresponsible or responsible behavior, just like gun ownership. At least gun owners do not ask society to buy their protection for them. What’s that you say? Society does pay for guns through “Excess deaths”? Perhaps. Does society pay for excessive abortions? Perhaps.

A fundamental essence to being a responsible, thinking adult is to never, ever let anyone convince you that it is ok for your rights to be infringed on. You never know when you might need a right you voted away.

I am not debating against all your false equivalencies and stawman arguments.

I feel with more gun deaths by far than any other first word country something obviously needs to be done about guns in country.

  5. What straw-man argument? We are debating on rights, responsibility, on what are appropriate remedies for irresponsible behavior, right?

At it’s core, should the responsible lose rights so it is harder for the irresponsible to be irresponsible?

Gun owners as a whole aren't responsible, thats why so many criminals have guns.

Should responsible women lose abortion rights because a few floosies use it as birth control?

Should we jail everyone innocent until proven guilty and deny them a speedy trial by imposing bail beyond their means?
