The Bankruptcy of NFLX (Netflix)

Discussion in 'Stocks' started by chaosclarity, Sep 26, 2011.

  1. Its running like the wind in a down economy- This NFLX has legs but Im not getting happy. I think we go to 80 by February.

I am noticing more and more kids with the Netflix on the ipods and other things they carry. Also even they don't know about the gaming potential of NFLX so that is not even in consideration for the stock price.

Now we wait and see. Hold on I think the mail man is here with my DVD. LOL :)

Rumors of Verizon buying Netflix pushed the price above $77, but today Verizon said, they haven't discussed any offer. Sure enough the price quickly dropped below $74....

Edit: Under $73 and falling. Should go back to the pre-rumor price of 70ish...

  3. Hey Pekelo it was a good trade you set up and you can trade this thing a few times until the range is reached. It didn't reach the trigger point but we see resistance at 78. so that 80 would be the right trigger point short term. In any event 71 to 78 is 10% short term not bad.

Re visit the support levels here. I am wondering about the Postal service issues here and how the closings would effect it. Once they do a combo rental and stream program that would make it king of the hill.

  5. I walked by a redbox the other day and I must say it was tempting. I think if Netflix can just get some better movies in their Streaming menu they could do better. I like the global play and I think if they can make it work they can be a leader in the space and then some.

68-65 seems the short side with 80 to the top. If they report some bad numbers for the year and take the write offs they could see a good year. I think its a trader except for the weekend. This could explode over the weekend. But that makes it exciting.

Its for a trader to trade and maybe buy some puts if your scared to protect the position. This one is not for the faint of heart.

Its a long term darling but a girlfriend who is a nympho.

  6. At this rate NFLX may be above 100 this year. I think the holiday marketing was incredible. Not to mention that intellectual property lock down is coming hard and swift. I don't know whats happening internally but its a good run in volume here.

Apparently the big jump above $80 was caused by the PR that in the last quarter subscribers watched 2 billion hours. As this article explains, this number is meaningless itself, (nothing to compare to) and if an increase, it just means that Netflix has to pay more, while the subscriber base hasn't really grown.(that's why they didn't mention that number)

  8. Hey Pekolo are you still buying puts here. I think you should move your put position price a little higher @ 85 may be a good area. In any event this should be interesting if it crossed 83 in the next few days. I think if they can retire some of the old debt with the money they raised we may start to see a better ROI. With Netflix its a hit or a miss. I still can't get over the Netflix vs Redbox war. I hope to see some more new news coming through.

  9. Having cancelled everything in November, they tried to advertise the old price $7.99 per month but it was only for streaming, which is what I used anyway to stream TV shows on demand, but I would like them to add back the rentals for the same price.

  10. I think Netflix may be a bigger fish than I thought. I think the management is listening and we can see more things coming down the pipeline. I saw a RedBOX at Walmart and I thought about it. If they ever put in their own boxes in Duane Reade its a wrap.

If your cable goes down you can still have Netflix delivered for 8 dollars per month using your neighbors wireless. LOL.

Okay Reed if your watching its time to make the the price a one size for all. Im thinking even throw in a free game to get that ball rolling.

100 may be around the corner shortly. Up 30% in a quarter not bad.

    WHOOS YOUR DADDDDY...... :D
